I can finally contribute to this thread! It may not be one big rock, but it's worth posting. I got a 3ct, VS2, F-G diamond cross. Totally surprised.

The picture doesn't do it justice but the stones are on fire. It is just magnificent. I wore it to my in-laws yesterday and everyone noticed it right away...At first I thought it might be TOO MUCH but it really is just beautiful. It's got 11 stones, so I guess they are about .27 or so each...? It was hard to get it on the picture so some of it is cut off.

And so you all don't think I am a deadbeat, I did get my hubby a cashmere RL suit, season tickets to the Yankees, and some other trinkets...

I hope everyone's Christmas was peaceful and full of family, friends, and happiness...As nice as all of our rocks are, this is all we really need after all.

Wow Jennifer..amazing cross!!! 3c...huge! My MOH had a small 1ctw cross from Tiffanys that she loved and it was stolen from her bf's house by some guest of one of the roommate's this year, she was really upset. Enjoy your new gift, it's beautiful!

Hiya all...

Though we said (due to downsizings) we were not really exchanging anything but "practical" gifts this year, my SO got me a beautiful jewelry armoire, which to be honest, is something I can really use. I'm losing things left and right because I cannot remember which little box the item I'm looking for currently resides.

It's lovely, white washed oak, Queen Anne style w/7 drawers, and two side panels for hanging necklaces. It's hand painted with magnolia blossoms, very light against the white.

I have to arrange everything, and as usual, finally get around to photos!

win

PS Thanks Kmom, I did get your pm, and am responding.

Thanks, Mara.

You know, when I opened the box, I kind of had a negative first reaction to the cross...like I should be in a P-Diddy video with it. But it only measures 1 & 1/8 inches long, which isn't that big. And I put it on a longer 20-inch box chain (it was on a 16-inch super shiny snake which put it at the base of my throat screaming "bling") so now I love it. The diamonds are incredible...Iw alked into the bathroom with the light off and it sparkled in the mirror in the dark.

With all the stuff I have collected, i never had a really nice cross.
I thin I might have said soemthing like that in passing once...and he remembered.

BTW, Mara--your diamond hunting skills are amazing. I am so impressed on all these posts when you find the greatest stones (like Cali's studs)...You have to promise to hang around for when I seriously begin looking for my three stone (it will be a couple of years), although i will "warn" you that i pretty much want a fancy shape and many folks around here prefer the H&A rounds.

Note to self: Thou shall not covet thy neighbor's cross.

Jennifer, that is awesome.

Enjoy & wear it in good health. Mara might recall I was beginning to look for one of those, but not quite one of *those* if you know what I mean.

Nice cross Jennifer...

I love shopping with other people's money!!

My gifts for my family went over so well that my Mom said I should be the Christmas Personal Shopper. Hah!

Hopefully I will still be hanging around here in a few years though I can't promise to know much more than I do now about fancies. Maybe Regents.

KM...did you find anything after all for the cross? I know there were a few options, anything tickle your fancy?

Mara, I did not pursue the cross further than checking out those sites you referred because I ended up buying that 5-stone ring and couldn't possibly do both. The cross will come someday.

Meanwhile, here's the ring. I will post a new thread on the options I'm considering.

I love your ring, K-Mom!

Can you give us some details? I actually tried on a five stone like that the other day at my jeweler's! I really love this look--it would go well with my 4-stone, I think.

Jennifer, your cross is beautiful! And K-Mom, the ring is so pretty!

Thanks ladies. Jennifer, the stones are SI1/SI2, looks like G/H in color and are set in a Stuller setting. The stones are very white but when louped the inclusions are many. Still they don't seem to hinder the sparkle in any way.

You can see more pics on my Christmas present from Santa thread. Warning, bad hands ahead.

Thanks, K-mom. I think it is a beautiful ring--very sparkly.

When I was getting a longer chain for my cross on Fri. at the jewelers, he had a very similiar ring in the case and I tried it on and REALLY liked it...the 5 stones with a slight build up to the middle one is very different. It's definitely on my mental "list" of future treats!

This is one of the features I love about this ring. You can see this best from the side view which you can see in the other thread. Not only that but the stones taper in size as well. It's growing on me, it really really is. But the idea of getting potentially two more rings plus earrings is growing on me too.

I'll have to make a sacrafice if I do anything at all with it. We'll just have to wait a and see. Thanks for all your input.

I just wanted to wish everyone here on PS a very happy holiday season! It has been so much fun being engaged at this time of the year. My fiance and I have so much to celebrate (and spend!) between Thanksgiving (my birthday) and New Year's Eve (his birthday)... After receiving my beautiful e-ring in September, I honestly did not expect anything by way of gifts for my b'day or for Christmas, I told him he was off the hook for a long time. But, being the sweet, wonderful man that he is, he surprised me w/ a gorgeaus little jewelry box just for my ring that has the "Make Way for Ducklings" painting on the top and plays a song from The Sound of Music when you open it. Then for Christmas he got me a gorgeous cheval mirror, get this, so that I can look into it and get my picture taken in front of it on our wedding day!!! That statement just blew me away.
I got him the new Callaway three-wood golf club, pro V one golf balls, and a gift certificate to go golfing, among other things. The look on his face when I gave him the golf club was probably similar to mine when I received my e-ring. 2003 has been a fabulous year for us, and I hope it has been great for all of you as well. Have a happy and safe 2004!!! kl

Best wishes to everyone! I hope you all enjoy your Christmas gifts and always wear your bling in the very best of health. I must have been a very good girl this year because Santa brought me an eternity band for my right hand (it was very envious of my left hand and always complaining).

Fuffi, where are the pics?? LOL at your right hand complaining.

Kmom, I'm terrible at jewelry photography but it looks like this photo. Specs are 2.27 cts, G VS in platinum.

Beautiful ring Fuffi! I'm so glad the right hand is now happy too

.

And, Kmom, I really like that ring! I don't know about you, but rings that don't fit me, never look good -- regardless of the ring. Obvious question, but have you asked about just sizing it to fit you? Would it definitly be too wide? It might wrap too much or not be a setting that bends well, but it also might just take it around your finger a little more, and look great. My first vote would be the ring as is, but the earrings option isn't too bad either.

Fuffi, that is gorgeous. Thanks for posting the picture.
Do wear it well.

Lop, thanks for thinking of that. Yes I actually did inquire about that first. But even the jeweler I saw agreed that it was just too wide of a spread. Because of the small size of my finger, the width would need to be curved too much, and the outer diamonds would be touching the insides of my fingers on both sides. That would drive me insane, not to mention it would look like it was obviously being sized just to fit. IOW I don't think it would be a natural look.

I am such a BIG fan of eternity bands... That is gorgeous...great size and I love the way the prongs are done.

Enjoy!!!

Thanks guys! Originally I was looking at .75 - 1.00 ct bands online, but when I actually went out to try some on with my husband, he was disappointed with how those looked on me and insisted I go with bigger stones (I know- poor me). Anyway, I'm really pleased with it and have gotten so many compliments. And now my right hand is very very happy....
