nor have I. ((Shudder))

So I'm trying to figure out layering. Need help as I'm terrible at it. Yay or nay?

baby monster -- with rare exception, I think less is more (less combining of different strands, not less pearls says the owner of a 144" rope!). When we add something to the "main" strand, I think it often detracts from and muddles the look of the main pearls. The pearls you are wearing are SO beautiful -- I personally would wear them as is. But that's just me!

(One exception to this "rule" is Mrs. Taylor's triple necklace with her "goldfish" fireball, which was made to have a certain look as a three-part unit.)

As I was typing the above, Mrs. Taylor was posting her inspiration on the Pearls Hall of Fame thread of exactly what I am writing about! Here it is -- despite my opening comment, I think this does work:

Agree.

I wore a Margo Pearl necklace today with their pastel pendant and earrings. The necklace pearls were originally picked for a bracelet. I had them drill. I changed my mind when I came home and knotted them into a necklace with white gold chain. The large split rings act as interchangeable components when I change my mood to switch from gold chain to ribbon.

The pendant pearls were also loose pearls from a couple boxes. Thank goodness there were not that many pastel pearl boxes. The pink and blue popped right out from the rest.

The earring pearls were loose pearls. I originally found the first pearl. It's so pretty with aqua or teal with pink overtone. Then I decided to try my luck to find a matching one for earrings. It took me a few hours to pick a matching pair from multiple boxes. The pearls are not green like pictured. When I chose this pair the intention was to pick an uncommon color.

Thanks :wavey: Layering is not my forte ;(

HHPMom - I love your taste and drive to collect the unusual. Your teal pearls with pink overtones for earrings are simply gorgeous. Do you have pictures of the finished earrings? I'd love to see them.

Thank you Flygirl and baby monster. They are finished as studs. I just poked the posts through the tape to take picture. Chenai at PP gave me that plastic card. PP just puts tape (I think some kind of hospital tape ) to the back and uses that to hold the pearls in place.

This was a bittersweet day as I was dropping off my first-born at college:

Aw...Been there done that. My youngest is in his 3rd year this fall. It will get better after about 6 months to a year. After both of mine were away for college, I was so sad. I got used to it now. Now my DH and I actually enjoy spending time together without missing them much. When they come home we are happy. But when they go back to school we sort of say "yay" too.

HHPmom what a beautiful and unique set

HHPmom: can you pls share where did you got the metal part to hang your enhancer? Thanks! :wavey:

(Love your pearls, as usual... )

HHPmom,

Amazing collection of Tahitians! That Margo Pearl set is so versatile. To be able to use ribbon or chain is very creative!

Hi there icy_jade,

Bellafindings.com and riogrande.com carry them. There are two sizes. They go with chain and strands. I have both sizes in yellow gold and the large size in white gold.

Bellafindings list them as 14K hangers. This is the path to search in case the link is broken in the future: 14k Gold Findings > 14k Pendants And Pendant Findings > 14K Pendant Parts > 14K Hangers https://www.bellafindings.com/3912/c-14k-14mm-hanger-2627-14k.html

Riogrande lists it under Bails and Enhancers category http://www.riogrande.com/Product/14K-White-Gold-Interchangeable-Necklace-Enhancer-Pendant-Bail/644520?Pos=14

Wearing it with a pendant is a little weird because I don't have even number of pearls but both ends are almost hidden by the collar so no one knows. Due to the way the pendant loop is made it's kind of sticking out weird on the enhancer. I probably won't do that again and just use the pendant on chain in the future.

HHPmom: thanks for your detailed explanation! I remember seeing the YG version on your Easter eggs pendant and thought that its a fab idea/accessory...

Off topic but I love  your Easter eggs!!

I second icy jade -- I LOVE your easter eggs!!!

I have the eggs today.

I was waiting for the picture to load -- but then realized you probably blocked your face off.

I just LOVE that pendant!!!

I don't know why I'm always sideways.....

Mrs. Taylor -- they look fantastic on you!

Today I am wearing 125" of the 144" rope Hisano made for me. My in-laws are visiting and DD thought this was "too much" but I thought, nah, I'll go for it:

Have you tried taking the original picture in landscape format, and not turning the camera to vertical? I'm thinking that it always loads so the photo has the wide edge going across the screen.

Pretty pearls, BTW.

Haha, "too much", now that is just absurd! They look amazing on you!

I broke out my pearl ring and my Kamoka bracelet and necklace today. I played around with different earrings and decided that the Sea of Cortez baroques looked pretty good. I need to have these pearls professionally set, rather than using my primitive wire wrap. :))

Your RING!!! I'm actually considering getting a pearl ring. I usually stick to pearl earrings and necklaces -- but yours is gorgeous!

Thank you, bsomlo. I have a thread in the other forum, but I'm planning to do one in Pricescope soon. All I can say is, don't settle for just any pearl.

FlyGirl, your ring is so gorgeous. Enjoy it!

Got better lighting in backyard with the Easter eggs. My husband loves the blue pearl. Sometimes it is lavender. This is the one that glows intense color in bright sun. The greenish gold is pretty too. I think of Jeremy whenever I wear this one. It was generous of him offering to send a bag for me to choose.

HHPmom that necklace is one of my all time favorite necklaces. It inspired my multi color tin cup. After seeing it in person, I must say the picture of it is really, really good but does it no justice. My pearls came out of the same pearl sack.

It is just really an amazing pendant, thank you for the link for bails, but where do pearls come from and who set them? Gorgeous!
