Wedding magazines. I buy one every time I see a new one, even though they all say the same thing and I already have all the ideas I need for the wedding! They''re expensive, heavy, and take up space. I love ''em though!

Ame, I feel the same about LV stuff, but to each his and her own. Marc Jacobs bags, on the other hand, are a different story. If it weren''t for the wedding coming up and the house we''re in the middle of buying, I''d be carrying one right now.

Ok I have to go with the Marc Jacobs too. Damn I love those. I can''t figure out why. I rememeber thinking they were hideous the first time I saw one...now I wish I had a disposable 900 bucks.

And I buy magazines like crazy.

Here are mine. . .

I spend *at least* $300 a month on herbal supplements and tinctures
6.gif

Only organic grains, veggies & meat for four people. . . no point in saying how much this is. . ."astronomical" is a sufficient total figure.

Candles/holders - $50-75 per month (plus holders. . .I stash them and then alternate them for variety - I mean it would be boring to have the same candle holders/candles out all year, right?
2.gif

Clothes - I have NO idea, but it's bad, bad, bad
38.gif
A shameful amount of money has been spent. To trick my husband I buy lots of black clothes in hopes that he can't tell the difference between all the different outfits. Luckily we have seperate closets. In our other house, we shared a walk-in and this is THE WORST set up any couple can have as then your husband can SEE your clothes and compare them to the relatively few items he has!
9.gif

Oh, and I almost forgot. . .I have a sock fetish and go on binges and buy tons of them. Luckily this year, I went for a sock splurge right after the holidays and picked up a number of angora and cashmere pairs for SUPER great prices (phew!).

None - cflutist makes sure I have no money!

LOL -

HI:

Angora/cashmere socks--holy smokes! Sounds fab not to mention warm.
I too spend $$ on organic fruit/veggie stuff--perfect for my juice extractor. And candles too....And on 800 tubes of lipstick/gloss and wine...and and and

Oh goodness, it is starting to scare
6.gif
me how much I spend on stuff!!! By any chance was this thread started by my DH in disguise to get me to stop shopping??? Gary.....is that you???

cheers--Sharon

Mine is definitely expensive bath and body products. I have very dry and sensitive skin, so I justfy the 5 or 6 different lotions, and 3 or 4 shower gels (all open at the same time) by trying to find just the right combination to combact my dry skin.
2.gif
And I have convinced myself that no generic product that I can get in the drug store will work.

These kinds of socks are soooo cozy! mmmm. . .flat out yummy!

(it sucks when spring comes around and my socks go into hibernations

Which juicer do you have? I''ve been thinking of getting one to juice wheat grass. Have you tried juicing this w/your juicer or do you think I''ll need a wheat-grass juicer? The one that was recommended to me is $299 and my husband isn''t all that supportive as he predicts I''ll use it once or twice and then forget about it. lol (and I guess the cost of organic wheat grass is what makes this whole dietary addition so pricey! I''m drinking freeze-dried green food now and it''s only $30-40/month. lol)

My husband easily could have started this thread as well. I have a number of boxes of stuff that arrive at our front door each week from supplement shops and actually come to think of it, I spend more like $5-600 on supplements. I rotate them all around and have cured myself of all sorts of various ailments that I never knew I even had! (I mean who in their right mind PAYS for dandilion greens?
20.gif
. . .But, at least this stuff IS organic and comes in a pretty box instead of being covered with dirt and bugs.
2.gif
)

Oh, MMM, I LOVE the LV bag you picked out. So cute. I''m not much of a LV fan but that is exactly the shape of a bag I''ve been looking for and I love the monocromatic black theme. Would it be okay to use it to haul around diapers, wipes and sedatives (and of course my dandilions)?

$150-$200 dinners out with $40 bottles of wine....on weekdays no less.

Gucci & Fendi bags... A complete waste but it''s like a drug.

Trust me, the generics DON''T work. I''ve been using cetaphil for a couple of years. Love this stuff. One day I tried the generic one from Rite Aid and it sucked. I can''t quite figure why this is, but for some reason even with the exact same ingredients, the Rite Aid one would sting my eyes. Not worth saving $5 or whatever.

I love bath/lotion goodies too and spend tons as well. You''re suppose to rotate these products so it''s important to have plenty to choose from
9.gif

Wow! I''m pretty boring- I don''t buy squat except groceries.

Michelle: we are on the same page! I love cetaphil as well. I stock up on this stuff at Costco so I catch a bit of a price break there. I use the savings to feed my other habit: expensive handbags! From the above posts I see I am not alone on that one!

ooh how fun..I have lots of spending vices other than sparkly baubles! how sad is it to actually have to put them all down on paper/keyboard! maybe this will help with our financial goals this year...to spend less!

1)
clothes clothes and more clothes. my fave is the savvy and tbd depts at nordstrom..all my favorite brands are there. i also love $150 pairs of my favorite brand of jeans, AG, for the way they fit so well with no alterations and no gaps at the waist, and $150 sets of juicy sweats which are a must for laying around the house in.
40.gif

2)
also PURSES. even if i dont wear them. i got 2 this last fall, both kenneth cole, one is a beautiful shade of pink i had been coveting something horrible...i just now actually wore one of them today. i have tons of purses but i always fall back on the standbys like my LV pochette which has taken a beating, and my fendi denim one which is very cute but not super practical.

3)
thirdly and this is probably the biggest money sink like alot of other people..food. not only grocery shopping at places like whole foods where organic stuffed chicken for 2 for dinner costs $20 and i must get fresh spinach shitake salad, but also eating out, we used to eat out about 2ce as much as we do now...jen's dinners out with wine sound familiar...but since we got the house we have started eating at home more, thank goodness. we usually spend about $140 per weekend on dinners alone, not to mention during the week where all the 'sonoma chicken coop' takeouts add up, and we have about 20 favorite restaurants.
6.gif
i definitely think our generation is an eating-out one...my parents are always horrified at how often we go out to eat. i adore great tasting food.

4)
pottery barn!!! this is one of my most horrible vices, i love this store and i shop there all the time. i even worked there one christmas to offset some of the money flowing out the door. of course each little tiny paycheck would go for more stuff. funny how even after i spend all this money there, our house is only about 1/3 decorated.
39.gif
i also frequent C&B, WS, and target way too much.

5)
lastly, the newly acquired white rat, Portia, there are too many cute dog stores around here and i love buying her treats even if she doesn't eat more than about 1-2 a day! she has a stockpile for the next year and a half. but then there are the things she actually likes and goes through like a wild animal. for example she can eat a bully stick per day, to the tune of $3.00 each. i also get her these easily digestable nylabones which are about $1.20 a pop even online, and she can eat one a day of those too. and she's only 15 lbs!!! so add it all up and it's practically like a child. dog stuff is amazingly expensive. oh i also have a collar fetish for her...i buy her about a new collar a month but im super picky about what i get...i find random obscure brands online and stuff, i rarely buy one in the stores, i spend hours looking for new dog collars sometimes.
20.gif

there's probably more but those are by far the worst. however come this last week i made us a pretty strict budget which doesn't include hardly any of the above, except for food and the required portia bully sticks to keep her from chewing on our furniture, and since i know our food habits are hard to break, we gave ourselves a good eating out budget, but cut all the other frivolous stuff. hopefully our financial planner will like us more now and i will have more funds for diamonds later.
9.gif

oh and figured i'd add that greg only has one vice...tools for cars and especially his old Dodge PowerWagon, he spends a good amount of money on it since he just brought it out here from Maryland and now houses it monthly in it's own storage garage in palo alto, and had to buy a bunch of new parts, etc. so at least i have one vice for him to offset my other 20.
41.gif

HI:

MicheleCarmen: I''ve done the homework/research--I have a Breville Juice Fountain and it is fab. 850 watts of power is like a jet turbine. Total no brainer for parts and clean up. Use it daily for everything juicable. Wouldn''t part it it and it was $199 Can.

OneDrop: Have you tired Eucerine? My son has dry skin and it is wonderful too. Derm recommended.

SevensOne: You and "boring" are mutually exclusive! No way! Remember you can''t buy humor/good nature/class and you have that in abundance.

Jen: I kinda miss those sophisticated dine out weekday meals too (pre family), but it is one thing or another right?

Ame: I am glad you like that MJ bag--I thought I''d have to send out some sort of designer bag mind control or something
2.gif

cheers--Sharon

What a fun topic DancingFire! My vice is anything to do with my house and gourmet kitchen stuff. Dishes, crystal, silver, linens. When the Williams-Sonoma catalog arrives in the mailbox, I practically get heart palpitations. Panini presses, stainless steel measuring cups and spoons, Kitchenaid stand mixers, Le Creuset dutch ovens, I could go on and on. I cook a lot at home and my husand has rather dryly suggested that he might save money if we ate out more often!!

DRY SKIN LADIES UNITE!!!! Ugh. I KNOW I should use Cetaphil. I just can''t I can''t! LOL...I have dry skin all over...my face is actually ok...so using cetaphil in the shower makes me still feel dirty. I''ve tried EVERY SINGLE POSSIBLE creme or lotion out there...Well, I have yet to try M-Lactin or something like that but that is next. UGH.

My bad spending habit is purses...gucci, prada, coach, bottega veneta, fendi, furla....the list goes on...and on...and on...and on...my closet is quite large and there are 6 shelves devoted just to purses. The good thing is, I do use them! My family adn bf do NOT understand the purse obsession. And in the same line as clothes, Citizens of Humanity jeans fit me perfectly, and its so hard to find the perfect fit, I''ve just sucked it up and keep buying them. I''ve definitely become a brand whore!

Moremoremore: I LOVE marc jacobs...that is my next purchase
9.gif
not that style, a different MJ bag.

Ame, I have to agree...one kind of purse that will not grace my closet is an LV...

Also, my newest thing = laser hair removal. Hello, never ever having to shave again?! It is seriously the best thing ever. I look at it like saving money...it might *seem* like a lot of money, but if you never have to buy shaving products or go in for a wax again over the years it''ll be saving money. And please, just let me continue to think that its saving me money
3.gif

Ooh, and also, I spend way too much money at the spa...when you combine all the manicures, pedicures, facials, waxing and other random treatments I *treat* myself too...WAY too much money.

What don''t I waste money on?!

I always seem to "need" another pair of shoes, even though I have so many there isn''t room for more. I would guess accessories are my big weakness, and really nice sheets
35.gif

ooh sheets. you should check out overstock.com libster, i get all our sheets on there, they have up to 900 thread count or something ridiculous, so soft and for great prices too! i refuse to pay retail for stuff like nice sheets, so i am so glad there''s something like overstock around!

Yes, Overstock is wonderful and I have found some amazing Italian ones at Tuesday Morning. I can''t wait to slide into bed at night

HI:

Your husband sounds like a funny guy...but how many times have you bought inferior products that have easily broken, only to go out and buy another better quality one in its place? This is especially true of kitchen gagets and cookware as they are stressed with daily use (or mine are anyway)--I replaced two garlic presses in a short time when I should have bought the "higher end" one to begin with. And I can vouch for the longevity of the LC casseroles/dutch ovens...

cheers--Sharon

I couldn''t agree with you more Sharon.

Buy quality and you''ll never regret it. (I suppose that applies to lots of things - not just kitchen stuff.) I also have several Le Creuset items and they are wonderful. Worth every penny (try e-bay or one of the Le Creuset factory outlet stores for excellent prices). Your children will inherit those pots. The only trouble is that you have to pick a color and live with it forever!!

Canuck-gal, I haven''t tried Eucerin yet, that is a possibility...

What I usually do is layer the lotions, creams, and shea butter that I have on the counter. And when it really cold, I use the cetaphil on top. Yes I am greasy...but the skin is hyrdated.

BTW...to the ladies loving the Marc Jacobs bags...I am with you!! I love his stuff. Right now I browse them on-line, in Saks and other places. One day...

can you ladies tell a fake LV from a real one ? one of the cousin gave my daughter a fake LV hand bag but it look so real, its black with lots of different color...LV, LV all over the bag. the style is very popular in japan.

Are you using the cleanser or the mousterizer (sp?)? The cleanser is great, but you still HAVE TO exfoliate a few times a week to have your skin feeling smooth/clean AND for the lotion to sink into your skin. Without exfoliation, you''re just applying lotion to the dry stuff. FWIW, the Cetaphil lotion SUCKS. My skin will not absorb it so I just use the cleanser. . .

Sharon Eucerin is THE BEST--and cheap. I use the thick cream on my feet...awesome!

#1: Black pants. It''s a problem. I don''t care how much they are. I have to have really good black pants. And I can''t turn down a pair.
OMG--so true!
3.gif

OMG !!! you girls are high maintenance
23.gif
my wife can go on for months without spending a dime. i''am the one with the spending problems....have a weakness for nice mechanical watches, swarovski crystal, $50-$600 ea for imported japaness koi fish.

My WORST habit is BRAS (and panties).. I've always had way way more bras than the average girl (since freshman year at college at least).. but I used to at least buy the cheap ones from walmart.. Then one *dismal* day I walked into a victorias secret sale and bought a bra from there for $10.. and it was ALLLLLL over.. Now I must have at least 20-30 full price bras from them. AND I started working there this summer.. so its even WORSE now. Weird.. I know.. but as a teeny chested girl..a great bra can make a HUGE difference.

Other bad habits - clothes in general.. Express is a bad store for me..i buy $80 pants there without blinking an eye.. (THERE IS THE CUTEST PAIR THERE THAT I SAW TODAY.. I WANT!!) American Eagle was bad.. but I've been able to resist them lately.. Love Aeropostale because there stuff is always on sale for cheap.

And we eat out way way too much.. we'd be richer and thinner if we could just stop doing that!

Oh yeah.. and the wedding ****.. I'm addicted.. I bet I have wedding magazines you girls have never even HEARD of. lol.. The new issue of THE KNOT weddings magazine is finally out! I got it today!!
