What do you collect other than jewelry?

Spouse would say I collect vintage cameras and lenses. In my defense, they were pretty much new when I bought them. :lol-2:

I've had my latest full-frame DSLR for nearly a decade (!) and it was the first digital camera I've used that was't terrible in any way. It had a very sudden and unfortunate encounter with the bottom of a stream the month before last so: upgrade time again.

Mine isn't so much a collection as it is a hobby, I suppose. But I make fake food out of polymer clay (mostly sweets). lol It has been a passion since my first can of playdough as a kid. I loved clay and I loved eating - clay food! I make a lot of them into ornaments and sell them on ebay. Here's a sampling, but I have dozens more!

Excuse me, why are you playing so cruelly with my sugar cravings? I have to go have some chocolate now...

This is such an interesting thread... why am I not surprised that PSers have collecting tendencies outside of gems and jewelry?!

Wow, you're so talented!! I love fake food (I buy some from Asia every time I visit), and yours are exceptionally well done.

I used to collect glass or metal apple figurines. I think that’s what they are called. I have a lot of them bc I would buy one wherever we went. I even have a Tiffany one from many years back.
I still have them but have not unpacked them since moving.

Haha! You are brilliant! These are phenomenal!

You've piqued my interest! Do tell!

Oh, my collection of antique silver is vast and taking over our apartment! The spoons multiply in the corners of the cabinets. We wake up to find sugar tongs nibbling at our toes. Most of it is American from the 19th century or a bit earlier or later, with some 18th century English, and a bit from other times and places.

Just for example, here's a cup made in NYC around 1870:

Here are a few American cocktail forks from the 1880s or so:

American perfume flasks from the last quarter of the 19th century:

18th century English punch strainer, used to strain the seeds out of lemon or orange juice when making punch:

Those are just a few random examples.

OMG, I'm dying here! Love, Love, Love!
I adore all of this! Those perfumes are scrumptious!
My oldest silver item is a Danish porridge spoon from the 1770's, which you may have seen. Most of my pieces are later.

Yes, your giant porridge spoon filled me with that deep, admiring collector's envy all of us know so well. Love that spoon!

I love the history in these pieces. It's like you have your own history museum in your home!

Books, perfumes, purses (love leather). I also collect in-game items and in-game achievement points.

Soft toys! Not intentional collecting but I receive them fr my friends and loved ones. Some are from when I was a child, Rabbits, bears, cats, seals, octopuses, sharks, ducks, camels, whales, alpaca, sheep, dogs, hippos, mice, dolphins… they are all over the house.
I also have many books, including a collection of hardcover, beautiful books on various themes like jewellery, flowers, trees, 2048EAEE-53DB-41E8-B05E-9160537F5D55.jpegfrom my BFF who gives me one a month. He also gave me several Pusheens, Moomin and Japanese toys.

So can I have a whinge.
I used to love browsing Antique stores, here in Sydney we even had like Malls where 50 or more small stall holders would have cabinets of goodies in the one building. It was such an enjoyable way to spend a rainy afternoon. There was South Dowling Street, a couple along Parramatta road near Camperdown, a few nice ones in the Eastern Suburbs and even two in Mosman.
Sadly, all gone.
Dont young people like or appreciate antiques anymore?

@Crimson, I LOVE Pusheen! Our youngest has a collection of Hello Kitty and one is a Pusheen crossover, I have thought about stealing it lol!

Sigh, where to start.
I’m on the spectrum so the collecting has always been strong in me.
I would go through phases / obsessions of different things.
Watches have always been a favourite. At my peak I had over 80. I have all sorts, including obviously ladies wrist watches but I also collected compact watches (a ladies face powder compact set with a watch movement) and other small / unusual clocks.
I’ve also have had a life long thing about wooden boxes. My favourites are the Puzzle boxes / inlaid boxes.
I have a collection of Wedgwood Fairyland Lustre, Clarice Cliff and other English porcelain including Crown Devon and Carltonware. I have a Lalique Fish Collection and the Chameleon collection (all 10) plus a pin dish and a ring.
since I’ve been “medicated” my behaviours are less intense / compulsive but I still have most of my special treasures. The self imposed rule with the watches is no new one unless I sell another.
I have a lot of stuff, mostly I curate it so that it’s not junk I’m keeping. It’s only fair on DH that I fund my new purchases with the sale proceeds of other things.
I could post 1,000 photos but here are a few.

Cool fish, I have a couple carved out of gems that I bought in Japan, however they are in boxes, nowhere to display them really.

It could be the pandemic was too hard for them to bear financially unfortunately. It’s happened here as well. The pandemic has stressed businesses especially small businesses

@YadaYadaYada Yay! So happy we have Pusheens in common. I have been resisting the Pusheen x Kitty collection, because I know it won’t just be one item! I love having the Pusheens model Jewellery. Muzo Majesty with a backdrop of Pusheen... I've died and gone to heaven. ❤️

Another addition to my fake food ensemble... a vanilla bean, strawberry, and pistachio triple scooper. lol If crafting weren't such a great form of therapy, I'd be realllllly embarrassed that this is how I spent my Thursday night.
