what do you think about this price/combination?

I was thinking about combining my trilliant Lloliondo from Dana with another trilliant, a sapphire. There are very few winsome orange/...combinations. I saw one on ebay, I think it was on VVS1, but do you think the price is OK? I mean, it is heated, and small... I bought another trilliant from one of our vendors a while ago and sent it back because I thought it was too expensive but it was 1.2 ct, and US-certified, and royal blue, and unheated. Should I invest into this stone + pay for the cert? The only benefit is that spess's size is 6.4, the same as this one has. Any thoughts? I am going to post the trilliant for comparison

Lloliondo trilliant... It is very bright and orange in real life; it was photographed under worst possible light, in my bathroom, just very dim. I have no clue why I decided to take photo there.

I think the sapphire would be overly dark compared to the spess. The bright/lightness of the spess will only exacerbate the darkness.

I agree. I think a less saturated blue would look a lot better.

Also it looks like there is an inclusion (or group of them) at one of the points. The top point, and I see it when the vid shows the back side, right at the girdle. That could be a weak spot right where you want it least.

Agree with everything that's been said. The blue is so dark that it will almost certainly black out. On the plus side, it'll make the orange REALLY stand out!

I would avoid all heated sapphires, and stick to unheated. I state that because to prove it's unheated and not be-treated is a costly lab report. At least if it's unheated, you can buy a fast track memo and be done with it.

It looks to me like that sapphire would look dark.

Thank you, fellows!
Gailey, it is an interesting combination! It directed my mind elsewhere - a square/trilliant combination looks great!

Have you thought about green and orange? Also a really interesting combination. You could probably pick up one of Tan's many trillion tsavorites.

I was, Jstar. It was my original idea. But none of his tsavorites matched the size; in the meantime, I decided that blue+orange looked better than green+orange. I am now deliberating an idea of light-violet+orange (lavender spinel + spessartite; or, amethyst + spessartite). What do you think?

Oh OK! I remember another thread about green/orange recently, so it may have been yours. To be honest I'm having trouble envisioning the purple and orange together, so if it were me, I'd stick with blue. Maybe just go for a lighter sapphire compared to the one above.

I'd still stick with blue as the combo of blue and orange is very striking, only one that is not so dark.
