I think THIS ONE is a new Jcrew addition.

THIS sleveless wool number would be an uncoventional choice for sure!

But I''m really obsessed with THIS little girl mary jane look ... and THIS red & white polka dot strapless number. NEITHER of which are probably ''beach wedding'' appropriate. Damn it.

Wish I was a 12-14! Sob!
I just ran over here to recommend the same Jcrew dress! I absolutely LOVE this and it would be perfect for a beach wedding!

Hey Deco, is that red and white one from Wedding Bee? I saw that one today and thought it was soo cute! I agree with Fata and Deco on that one Jcrew dress!

Hey Deco, is that red and white one from Wedding Bee?
Sure is .. that''s how I ended up over at Jcrew today scoping out their new stuff. I''m SO glad this retro 50s party dress trend is booming. It''s one of my fave looks!!

That red one reminds me of my days when I wanted to be minnie mouse! I love the "poufness", so good for "curvy" me!

The red polka dot one is awfully cute as a party dress! I wonder if I can think of an excuse to wear it?

In concept that new organza jcrew dress is great, but matching the execution to my body probably wouldn't turn out so hot. That's a really traditionally cut empire which just makes me look pregnant.

I've got a broad back and ribcage which is on of the reasons empire waists just don't come off right on me. Besides, I do go in where I should and out where I should... although I could use a bit more in and a bit less out!
2.gif

Besides it even makes the model a bit poofy in the stomach area!

btw, I hope I look half as beautiful on my wedding day as you did on yours Deco!

I'm wondering if I should just go for the ebay jcrew dress? It does apparently have a natural waist despite the band. But it's a size 12. My mother says it's risky to buy something I can't fit into now, but I do have more than five er..four months. Even if I don't really lose weight, just getting into shape should put me into a size 12. (crossing fingers)
5.gif
I may be falling down on weight watchers, but I am exercising for 45 mins at 135-145 (heartrate) each and every single day!
Anyway, I finally got my mother to agree to go wedding dress shopping with me tomorrow after my chem midterm (why oh why did I go back to college??), under the pretext of just finding out what looks good on my body type. She's been insisting that a) I shouldn't look at dresses until I'm one dress size down, and b) what looks good on me now wouldn't look good when I'm a bit smaller. I finally convinced her that losing weight would not change my body type
20.gif
and that if I wait until I'm a 12 it'd be cutting it waaay too close.

I may also be able to get my father to go dress shopping with us. I trust his opinion. I've never truly forgiven my mother for making me an iridescent bubble-gum pink strapless sheath prom dress! *shudder* So either way I won't make a decision on the ebay dress until after shopping tomorrow.

Indie: I''d stay away from a place that does ''custom'' work but can''t even fit dresses to their models correctly!
Bingo. Keep looking...these don''t seem made very well.

On second looks ... I do really like the BCBG tea length lacy dress ... and check out this view of the cream colored crinkle cotton Anthropologie dress in action on the beach ...only $85 bucks to try it in person!!

The back view is kicky too! It does have the "feeling" of those dresses you initially posted Indie (the ones with the flowers painted on ... yet ... it''s Anthropologie ... internet only ... and ON SALE.

Ummm. Too nautical? Too bad! I love it!

I totally adore that dress Deco! If they made in in navy/white, I think i would have to nix the bridesmaids-get-to-choose-their-own-dresses clause in my wedding and make them all wear that!

IT'S OVER!! THE DRESS QUEST IS FINALLY OVER! Well I hope so at anyrate.

My mother showed the ebay seersucker J. Crew dress to my father and he just went ahead and bought it! 'Oh that looks perfect for her, great price... click!'
9.gif
I clearly did not get his decisiveness gene!
31.gif

Of course he may have been motivated by the knowledge that I was going to go dress shopping with Mom tomorrow. He knows she's perfectly capable of buying me a wedding dress 10 time that price without batting an eyelash.

So here's the pic again:

and the link (any pucker bit in the pics is due to it being clipped onto a size 6 dress form)

YAY!!

and now to stop eating....

I think I'll hang it up on my office door so everytime I get weak-willed I can look at it!

ETA: **HAPPY DANCE**

What a beauty -- and silk seerucker sounds like the perfect accompaniment to your DF''s beach "tux"! Congrats to you and your dad!

Wow, what a dad! Too bad you missed out on the dress shopping though, it is fun to stand on the dais and be doted on.

Congratulations! I hope you love it when it arrives!

Don''t worry too much about the weight thing. My favorite diet tip is portion control. Every time you eat, pay attention to when you''re actually sated and stop. Even if there''s food left; even if you paid $$$ for the food that''s still left, stop. If I can manage to do that for about a week I ususally find myself eating less overall and having more energy because I''m not bogged down with extra fat/salt. That and drink water when you get the munchies, for most people something like 70% of the time they think they''re hungry, they''re actually thirsty.

Good luck! Congrats!

Congrats on purchasing your dress! It''s beautiful!

i think your dress looks gorgeous indie
36.gif

congrats!

I''ve been silently following your dress search. The one you (OK, your dad) purchased is the best of the lot. CONGRATS!!

Who would have thought that a DAD would be the one to finally "click" and buy the best dress. Way to go pops. You''ll have to model it for us when you get it.

9.gif
My Dad is pretty unique! I''ve always trusted his opinion and honesty more than anyone else. Well, until my fi of course.
5.gif

Besides, there was no way he was going to let the opportunity to only pay $400 for a wedding dress slip away! I''m pretty sure he overheard my mother plotting to drag me to LA to visit some Beverly Hills bridal salons!
20.gif
My mother has just been so relieved that both of her daughters will be married ladies that she''s lost all sense!
31.gif

I somehow doubt I''ll be able to fit into it right away but I''ll give it a shot. I''ll certainly post pics as soon as I can!
5.gif

Thank you everyone!

Yes, please post pics! Just read this thread today and was a bit concerned on the dresses you first posted, but the dress you are getting is FAB! Can''t wait to see!!!
