What do you think of these dresses?

You look great in both but I do like the Nakita (#1) more.

Ooooooh! I agree - you''ve got a FAB figure! I would have to vote for the Tayla but I might be a little biased - I tried that one on and loved it as well!! But it definitely shows off your lovely curves much better than the Nakita does (although both dresses look awesome on you!).

Thank you so much, ladies, for your sweet comments & helpful thoughts! You really made my day!

As far as my thoughts on the 2 dresses are concerned, I really like them both, but for different reasons. I think the Nakita is so beautiful & romantic & love the skirt & espeically the train, but am not thrilled w/ how the bodice wrinkles & the beading was a little scratchy under my arms. I love the bodice on the Tayla & its floaty ethereal quality. I think the Tayla is much closer to my original dress vision, if you know what I mean--bright, floaty, lightweight material, kind of reminiscent of a ballroom dance dress with a bit of sparkle. It''s also more expensive--ugh.
14.gif
Scary how quickly the budget creeps up...
32.gif

Both were just a bit hot, though, which is a concern if we go the destination route. (but I might be willing to sweat a bit for a fabulous dress!
31.gif
) I have an appt. in a couple of weeks at Vera Wang to look at some of her bridesmaid dresses--hopefully they come in white & ivory? Several of them have trains & look pretty & might be lighter in weight. But I do LOVE these 2 Maggie dresses...
30.gif

As far as others I tried on, I tried on dress #1 in my initial collage & hated it! It was so unflattering I couldn''t wait to take it off! I also tried on a column dress that I kind of liked--it had a Greek look to it--but I didn''t get a good picture of it.

DiamanteBlue, thanks for the reveiw of the stick-on bra! I was really curious about it, but not sure how it''d work. Seems to me, if I go w/ a Maggie dress I could just forgo a bra entirely. How nice...

Tybee, just stop! You look absolutely amazing in your dress!!! Stunning! Thanks for the compliements, though.
1.gif

Dodger Gurl, what does your dress look like? Did I miss it?

wow woman! i would kill for your figure! you look soooo gorgeous in both dresses, but i really love Tayla. It''s more sophisticated and elegant where as Nakita is more romantic, so whatever look you''relooking for. But you look FAB in both so either way you can''t go wrong!!!
36.gif
36.gif

Dang woman you have a fab figure and look awesome in both!

I like the Nakati slightly more on you, something about the way it accentuates your shoulders and collarbone area better.

But the Nayla is a beautiful dress and would look great for a destination wedding. I totally envision it on the beach or oceanfront whisping in the tropical breeze.

Thank you, ladies!
9.gif
You''re making me blush!
emembarrassed.gif

Ginger, talk about figures....you looked absolutely amazing in every dress you posted on PS!!!

Selflove, yeah, I think chiffon on the beach would be perfect!
10.gif
I think the collarbone thing you noticed was b/c my hair was back from my shoulders in the photo in the Nakita, whereas it was over my shoulders (and obscuring the collarbone) in the Tayla photo. I''m thinking I''ll probably wear my hair up---cooler that way.

I kinda want to try on this ABS dress now, but am afraid I might be a bit too curvy for it...also that I might actually want a frillier dress than this for dancing, twirling, etc. But this one looks super sexy (and cool).

pib_8A85Z70_Ivory.jpg

oh that is really beautiful!

If I could wolf whistle I would (sad, I know, but I''ve never managed to learn to whistle
40.gif
). That us one SEXY dress! Love it, but not sore if I love it for a wedding. I tend to stray the more traditional side when it comes to it i guess. but i would love it in another color for an evening dress. or one in white if i can ever manage to get invited to one of p. didy''s all white parties!
20.gif

I also am getting married next year and can''t seem to find the right dress. I, however, absolutely love dress #4. Where at did you find it?

Ginger, LOL about P Diddy''s parties! Yeah, right now I''m sort of debating between a simpler dress like the one above (J Crew has a similar halter dress which is less sexy...maybe I''ll try it on today?) and a more formal dress like the Tayla. A simpler style would likely (but not necessarily) be less expensive & would definitely be cooler for a destination wedding. I could wear a flower in my hair & call it a day. But, then I wonder if I would regret not going w/ something more formal & princess-like that would enable me to wear a tiara.
2.gif
As you said, I could wear a dress like the one above as an evening gown any time, but only get one chance (or 2 in my case...
emembarrassed.gif
) to wear a wedding gown. I just looked through my closet & found a very similar floor length halter dress in black jesey that I''m wearing to a ball next weekend--perhaps it''s better to get a totally different gown for the wedding?
2.gif

lilshortcake, welcome to PriceScope!
35.gif
I love dress #4 too--it''s by Mori Lee, but unfortunately has been discontinued so I don''t know if you could still find it. Good luck in your dress hunt.

Ok, since that one is discontinued
emsad.gif
, what would you suggest? I''m pretty short, like 5-2 so i don''t want anythingreal bell like at the bottom. I don''t want a real long train either. Chiffon is very heavy and hot -- and that was just trying it on. I couldn''t imagine dancing in it. I want something flowing and free like yet elegant. What do you think?

Lilshortcake, check out my post on this thread for some informal wedding dress options if you choose to go that route. Good luck shopping!

What do you guys think? Here''s a pic of me in Maggie Sottero''s Nakita (disregard the weird look on my face)
OMG! You look amazing in that dress!!!

Aww, thanks lmurden! I really love both MS dresses (Nakita & Tayla), but am having some second thoughts about going with a formal & heavyweight dress for what we finally firmed up to be a beach wedding at Couples Swept Away in Jamaica. (brief moment of happiness for finally having a set plan!
36.gif
) I was hot even when I was trying on these dresses in an air conditioned room & am afraid I''d die on the beach.

So, I''m trying to broaden my seach to include less formal gowns that are lighter in weight (and perhaps w/o a train as I don''t want a train to get all mussed in the sand).

Any suggestions?

I actually bought a cheap ($90!) dress at Filine''s Basement last night. It''s similar to the dress below, but is in ivory satin w/ gold beading rather than white matte jersey w/ silver beading. I''m not sure if I''m in love w/ it or not. I would''ve preferred silver to gold & am not sure about the fit. (I''d prefer if it were more fitted through the waist--it''s looser in that area on me than the model in the photo--not sure if it can be altered to fit better or if this is just the style of the dress (column dress)... Anyway, at least I have a dress to beat now. (and 30 days to return it if I find something better!) I just ordered 2 dresses from J. Crew & might order a couple from Nordstrom''s wedding area to compare.

139964.jpg

It''s not as slinky or flattering on me.

WOW! Check you out girl! LOL...You look stunning!!!
I have to say I love the first dress but totally understand about the wrinkles...and the heat and weight of the dresses...Since you didn't pick one yet, I have to say that I LOVE the lines and look of the second...but there is something about the beading in the pictures- the angles and shine...that I don't like... Geez, I hope this doesn't come out totally insulting- but I keep thinking star trek or like a dancing costume... I'm sure it's just the pic...Geez, how could THAT be insulting LOL...I don't know how else to articulate it...But the dresses you selected show you have great, elegant taste and I would kill for that bod!!!

OOOOOH!! That dress is SEXY! I was actually eyeing a dress like that in Hot Pink the other night at the mall! If you don''t love it, you could always wear it for a rehearsal or a shower of something. :)

rotfl, moremoremore! Now I'm thinking Star Trek! Actually, the Tayla (2nd dress) very much reminds me of a ballroom dance costume and, I hate to admit, that it's part of the appeal to me.
emembarrassed.gif
I love dancing & totally have a fantasy about floating across a ballroom in the arms of my beloved on my wedding day. I realize that this fantasy is not exactly compatible with my wedding. On a beach. In Jamaica.
38.gif
So maybe it's best to scrap the whole idea & go w/ something more island-appropriate such as a simple white dress & a flower in my hair? (but I really wanted to wear a tiara....
emcry.gif
) Thanks for the compliment, btw.

If I can get a pic of myself in my new (probably temporary) wedding dress, I'll post it for you guys. It's tough--most of my girlfriends don't live in NYC so it's hard to find people to indulge me in my dress shopping...

MelissaSue, yeah, I definitely like the dress & you can't beat the price. I'm just not sure I want it to be my wedding dress, ya know? Does it look too cocktaily w/ the gold beading? I don't think I'll have a rehearsal or shower or another occasion to wear it. Maybe I could invent one...

These are the dresses I ordered from J. Crew. I'll let you know how I like them when they come in.

LOL- are we going to see you on dancing with the stars??? :) It has such a lovely line and fabric...!! I can see why you love it...

The latest dresses you ordered are from JCrew? WHAT? I love them!

And who says you can't wear a tiara??? You sure can...They have those really beautiful ones that don't look like ms. america tiaras...they are a little wild..with pearls and crystals and enamel flowers...I totally see your hair down with just the top front up and one of those tiaras...know what I mean??

see why i love j. crew!? those look great brightspot. you are on the right track here...you will be *much* happier in something lighter i think.

Brightspot- I LOVE the jcrew dresses, esp the halter! I love the way it looks in the back! And I agree with MMM that you can totally wear a tiara!

BrightSpot-
I JUST came back from my friend''s house to see her in THAT JCrew dress! She''s getting married in June on a farm. I LOVED it on her. The material is very flowie and pretty...she''s just a little worried that her mom won''t think it''s formal enough. It would be PERFECT for an island wedding.
It''s a great choice, (and an excellent price I might add!!)

BrightSpot, I agree with everyone else that J Crew dress is just gorgeous and is pefrect for an island wedding. I think it''s stunning!!!!!!

Oh, if only I didn''t have to become a star first...
38.gif
(I love that show, btw!)

Thanks everyone for your thoughts on the dresses!

moremoremore, I like the idea of still being able to wear a tiara!
9.gif
I''ve seen some of the less structured, wilder looking tiaras you''re talking about & they could be a great bet! I even found one that was a light sapphire blue--could echo the blue of the Caribbean sea & serve as my "something blue?" Though would that not match a white dress? I guess a flower in my hair could like nice too & more understated. (I could always buy the tiara to wear at home!
27.gif
)

I know, can you believe those dresses are from J Crew? Craziness! I especially like the halter dress & can''t wait to see how it looks in person! I hope it looks as good on me as it does on the model.

Belle, I think you''re right that I''ll probably be more comfortable in something lighter. (As long as I still look like a bride!)

MS, I love the back of the halter dress too! Understated, yet very sexy too!

Tybee, I''m so glad you liked the dress in person! Did your friend buy the halter dress or the other one? She could always dress it up w/ a veil, tiara, flowers, etc if she wants it to look more formal. Yeah, you sure can''t beat the price!

Kaleigh, thanks, as always, for sharing my excitment & adding to it!!!

Here are a couple of other dresses I''d like to try on--think I''ll order these from Nordstrom''s:

Any preferences of these vs. the J. Crew dresses?

Oooh. I like those new ones too
I think you would really just have to try them all on and see which works for you

What is the new one that you don''t have labeled (not the first one from nordstrom, and not the Nicole Miller)? It looks really sexy!

The first nordstrom one worries me because you can see the outline of the models butt, if you can see HER butt, what would it look like for someone with a normal butt?! The way the back wraps around is sexy though!

Ooh, very good point about the butt! I hadn''t thought about that, but that''s definitely a concern...

All of the dresses in my last post are on Nordstrom''s website. Do you mean the lace dress? It looks pretty, but I''m not sure what I think about that ribbon detailing.

You''re right--I''ll just have to try them on & see what works for me. I wish they carried these dresses in the stores...
40.gif

Who is the designer of the dress that''s next to the Nicole Miller dress???

of the new ones you posted, i like this one the best:
154689.jpg

though, it kinda has a victorian feel to it...do you think?

Here is a larger pic of the lace gown.. I see what you mean about the ribbon detail now

154689.jpg

and the back
154689-1.jpg

Yeah, that dress does have a bit of a Victorian feel to it, doesn't it? The designer is Mary L. (?)

It might be pretty--I like the neckline (why do so many lace dresses seem to have that blah-straight across neckline w/ spaghetti straps?) but am really not sure about the ribbons...especially now that I look at the close-up & see that there are tiny bows at each point where the ribbons cross.
38.gif
The little train is pretty, though.

What do you guys think about this one?

15503U.jpg

Or this--pretty or cheezy?

149259.jpg

i like the lightness and sparkliness (technical terms!) of the first one, but i think you should go for something more figure flattering. it even looks too 'baggy' on the model.

hmmmm....the second one looks like a casual dress that wants to be dressy. it's not doing anything for me.
