I have a G VS2 0.60 carat GIA diamond, and am in the process of acquiring another to make a pair of earrings?
After reading much on pricescope, i figured i''ll be comfortable with a G SI1 to make up the other side of the earrings, as long as its eye clean.

Here is the GIA info:
GIA 17596671

Measurements: 5.49-5.54 x 3.26 mm

Carat Weight 0.60
G color
SI1 clarity
Cut grade : very good

Depth 59.1%
Table 60%
Crown Angle 32.5%
Pavilion Angle 40.8%

It has a HCA score of 1.5- Excellent within the TIC range

Light Return Very Good
Fire Excellent
Scintillation Very Good
Spread Excellent

Even though its cut grade is only very good and not excellent, but it has good HCA score. Would this make a nice diamond?
Any input is much appreciated!
Thanks!

I would personally want something with a smaller table

EDT: Just read the whole thread, an earring....Yes, try to match closely with the other

What are the specs on the one you already have? You might want to try to match it. For example, if the diameters or the tables are too different, the earrings might not look like the same size.

The other diamond is close in measurements to this.
Does a good HCA score, even though the cut grade is only very good, make it a nice and sparkly diamond?

Thanks

No. The HCA is a good predictor of what will tranlsate to a good IdealScope/FireScope image. IdealScope and Red Reflectors, while helpful information is not an end all be all technology as it poorly translates actual brightness and contrast in a diamond. This type of GIA "VG" will suffer from overdarkness under the table as observed in diffuse/ambient daylight conditions.

This is a general fault/limitation of all reflector based technologies and the HCA. If you were to see the IdealScope image it would be deceiving and suggest a great diamond when in fact it will not be a top performer. On a postive note this would be a classic case of a diamond that performed very well in spot lighting and most likely have great fire and sparkle (as observed in spot lighting but less than desireable brightness and contrast as observed in more common diffused lighting.

All the best,

All the best,
Good post Jon!! If you could post the specs of the existing diamond, maybe we could help you match it?
