Of course...nothing but the truth....

Okay, if you want honesty, I think it''s really unattractive. The cut, the color, the clarity are all bad. I don''t even know what stone that is.

Well..you said be honest. So honestly...I think you can do much better!

How about one of these yellow sapphires?
Link

They are being sold as a pair but you can ask if he''ll sell you just one. Or you can use the other in a necklace.

Wow!!! I didn''t know it was that bad...

It''s actually a yellow sapphire. Supposedly, it''s unheated. And he told me the jeweler said there were a few inclusions.

Can you give us the stats?

That stone will not sparkle. The window in it is just about as big as you can get. I would not accept those inclusions. And the color is not good either. You guys can do much better. Just curious, what is the price on this stone?

I wouldn't call that yellow...I can't decide if it is more bronze-y or green or brown?

I think its a 2.4 carat yellow sapphire and ~$700

For the price you could do much better.

I honestly can say that I''m looking for a yellow sapphire that is that color.

Ok...what is that color? How would you define that color? Can you find something else that is the color you're looking for?

ETA: Also, are you looking for size or shape or what?

I really want a cushion/emerald cut canary yellow sapphire around 2 carats.

Here''s an almost 4ct unheated yellow sapphire from Tan. Color seems like it might not be as saturated though.

This is how Michael Kors does Canary yellow. Compare this color to the stone you posted. If you could give us some details, we might be able to help you.

And here is a canary yellow diamond.

On this one, do you see how you can''t see through the stone? In the stone you posted, that''s what a window looks like.

This is most likely not in budget, but just for eye-candy purposes, here''s a 7.4ct yellow sapphire from Roger.

Freke, this is exactly the type of color that I''m looking for.

And here''s what I would consider a nicely colored yellow sapphire cushion. $3,763. This is natural. And bigger than the one you posted. And not windowed.

This is what I''m looking for as an emerald or cushion stone that is around 2 carats.

Honestly speaking, for those prices, I much rather have a chrysoberyl. I know you're trying to save money so that's why I keep harping on this. Chrysoberyl is so much less expensive, and the luster and polish are so much nicer than sapphire IMHO. We're talking maybe a couple hundred per carat vs a thousand. You really have nothing to lose, and everything to gain by going that route, and chrysoberyl is always untreated. JMO. They come in golden yellow colors like the stones above as well.

Check out the chrysoberyl on this page.

Check out this one as well by a reputable company that also sells sapphires. It's huge, but look at the price!! I don't know about you, but I would never ever be able to tell the difference between this gem and a sapphire, and it's untreated and so much less per carat. It's also almost as hard as sapphire, and at 8.5 on the hardness scale, it's great for an e-ring stone.

I wish I had known about chrysoberyls earlier. I definitely would have considered first and foremost had I known. I've harped on yellow sapphires for so long to my boyfriend that I think he would just lose his mind if I change my mind (again) about the type of center stone that I want. Now I'm not sure what to do.

If you really want to save money, and so does your boyfriend, look into chrysoberyls. These are such underrated stones, and they can be so beautiful, if not more beautiful, than the finest untreated yellow sapphire. I have one that practically glows in the dark it''s so beautiful.

1.4 carat untreated sapphire $770

Not a lot for your money. Okay, I'm off my soap box for now. I feel like the one woman chrysoberyl crusader!!

I have a chrysoberyl in a similar color and size to that stone, and I won it on auction for $10. I should set it, it's very saturated, more so that than gem.

Wanted to jump in and echo TL about chrysoberyl! I have a yellow one w/a hint of green and I adore it! I get it out all the time to play with it-it sparkles like the dickens!

I would want a chrysoberyl too TL (actually already do) but the OP says she wants sapphire. Please take note of the novelty of both Freke and myself suggesting NSC stones!
This is one that I considered getting from them, once upon a time.

Yes, I know she wants a sapphire, but she also wants to save money, so that's why I keep harping on chrysoberyls. Yes, I do see that you two are pointing out NSC stones. Very interesting.

Here's another shameless image of my 3 carat cushion sitting in a gold halo unset, just to give an idea. This one has a greenish tinge and reminds me of those neon yellow-green bicycle reflectors. However, they come in golden colors as well.

And it''s impossible to capture the sparkle/luster in a still image. They sparkle like mad.
