And no offense to those who love it, but I really don''t get all the love for ''Love, Actually.'' There were too many cheaters in the stories for it to leave me with a nice happy Christmas-movie feel. I just felt badly for Alan Rickman''s wife and Kiera Knightley''s husband who had no idea what his best friend was trying.
I felt the same way. I liked pieces of the movie but not the overall movie.
I do hate the part with Alan Rickman...it makes me so mad! The Keira Knightley thing doesn''t bother me because the friend isn''t really trying to get with her...he just loves her but he knows it will never happen!
Ditto thing2. I always felt that Keira''s hubby''s BFF wouldn''t have said anything if she hadn''t seen the video. I think he felt like he was obligated to get it off his chest after that. Otherwise I think he would have just suffered in silence.

And I could never figure out what the deal was with Alan Rickman. Did he or didn''t he? They implied that he wanted to. And that she thought he did. But did he?

And I loved the Hugh Grant story. I loved Martine McCutcheon (Natalie) she is just too adorable for words. And Colin Firth''s storyline. And Bill Nighy''s.

I do love that movie. But I don''t watch it at Christmas. Instead, I watch Gremlins. Which just brings out my Christmas jollies.

SO said to throw in his two favorites:

The Ref and We''re No Angels.

I also love that movie The Family Man. Awww. Nicholas Cage. Love him in that.

But the best friend *does* do something--he didn't just leave it at the video, he went to her door and did those cards and whatever, and then (equally yucky to me) she runs after him to kiss him!! When she was MARRIED!!

To a lovesick dude, that could've been the invitation he was waiting for to start something! Ugh, I would feel so hurt and betrayed if I was the husband and found out what had happened between them. I couldn't stand that part; it ruined the movie for me.

I think, with Alan Rickman, it was definitely implied that he did, and we were seeing it from her (the wife's) point of view, and she wasn't going to directly address it, at least not then during the holidays, so we don't get to know for sure (I think, anyway--haven't seen it in a while although I own it--someone gave it to me for Christmas one year).

I really enjoyed the other stories, but not enough to make up for those bits.

I tend to be super-sensitive to stuff with cheaters in it because I had my heart horribly broken by a cheater. So there's that too.

Oh yeah, and I also adore "The Nightmare Before Christmas."

Yeah, but I think he did the cards just to get some closure, and it worked for him...he said he was done as he was walking away. I wanted Kiera to get with him because I thought he was HOT! And the kiss was weird, but it didn''t bother me for some reason. I don''t think Alan Rickman did anything with that girl-I think it was leading that way but I don''t think it happened. And I too have had my heart broken by a cheater!

So funny we think the opposite things about what happens in that movie! I like movies and books like that, where you can fill in the blanks yourself somewhat.

I love Nightmare Before Christmas too! I need to watch that soon-I''ll have to add it to my Netflix. I''m in the mood for Christmas movies!

Twilight Zone marathon!

Oh yay! That counts? I obsessively watch TZ every Xmas. I have a two box sets and I requested another one. Every year I try to stay up all night on New Years just to watch it even though I''ve seen every episode a hundred times.

Hmm...other films...I like Family Man too. I have a soft spot for Nicholas Cage. I also like all the claymation shows Skippy mentioned. What''s Christmas without those?? And of course Charlie Brown. I own that soundtrack and play it the entire month (and sometimes the rest of the year lol)
