What is your holy grail and do you own it?

Mine is and always will be Almond Blossom Opal Ring.
A one of a kind designer piece that I would have always assumed well beyond budget and unlikely to be transportable to Australia.
Opals have always been my favourite gemstone, their unique creation and how no two are ever the same. Not a gem for everyday wear but a rainbow you can hold in your hands.
Almond Blossom Opal Ring is a 33 carat Welo Opal set in blackened white gold with pink sapphires and diamonds. She came to me from a fellow PSer who was willing to let her go and rehome her across the world with me. Grateful.
And even the “fakers” got involved and “she” was available on eBay !

And if @missy ever comes to Australia, please, you must visit Sydney and bring your glorious Opal ring so I can sit outside in the sunshine and be transported away by her absolute magnificence.

I will never get tired of seeing that stunning ring. What an incredible work of art.

If you’re ever in our neighborhood let me know
Happy for you to try her on and see her irl
Plus it’d be very lovely meeting you in person
:)

Thank you @missy, you are very generous. ❤️ My husband and I haven't traveled much outside of MA for quite some time now. Maybe one day we'll feel like leaving our kitty and taking a trip, we could share our love of jewels.

My lust for a Tiffany classic knife edge solitaire around the 1.2ct mark is well documented around here :lol-2:

Mr T finally surprised me with the green light in 2022 & we settled on a (what felt like extortionately priced) 1.73ct F VS1. I could have got more elsewhere & I could have gone bigger, as they also called in a beautiful 2.49ct G for only a few thousand £ extra, but I felt was an incorrect grading as it looked more tinted to me. My original was a D VS1 pear, so I was used to seeing bright & white. Plus my eternity are all F’s & I didn’t want any noticeable colour difference. In hindsight DSS is real, but I love & treasure the perfection of this XXX with its sleek setting. Down the line I will hunt for a true antique for my RH with possibly a bigger diamond, but this right here is my HG & I still pinch myself about it :kiss2:

That would be lovely. Let's pick any season other than winter lol.

Stunning. Perfection. :kiss2:

I have a few pieces that I especially like and one that was a lot more expensive than the others. But I wouldn't say I have a "holy grail" piece, either in my collection or in my goals/dreams.

Absolute art.

I don’t know if I have a holy grail. There a plenty of designers I admire that will always be out of reach financially. Practically speaking, I’d love a French cut diamond RHR which I’ll get eventually. Mostly, my eyes are larger than my budget. Lol

I am always perving on giant gems so in terms of holy grail I don’t think that’s ever going to be achievable for me. But if I come down to earth a bit, these rings are the ones that make me squeeee when I look at them. These are the ones with a bit more magic than my others.

Hahaha I was telling my hubby about you and he says you could make Thanos' gauntlet with your CS collection (we're Marvel nerds)! I think I need to start collecting CS too haha.

I love Flora VERY much, but I also adore this Tiffany band! Where did you find it?

Aww… thank you! At an auction house in TX. The family that put the ring up for auction … it was her grandmother’s wedding ring. I’ve looked everyday for one for the past two years. They are SO hard to find! If I see one I can let you know… I know you love old Tiffany too.

I found a Tiffany Art Nouveau setting today for a larger center stone… let me know if you want a link for that!

I have always wanted a neon pink Sapphire to be set in the flower cluster with an air line/gap, which is what I would like as an engagement ring if I were to walk down the aisle again.

Since the chances of me finding an OH to walk me down the aisle is practically zero, I decided to have a ring made regardless.

I asked Jeff White to help finding a suitable stone on his 2020 Tucson trip just before the Covid pandemic hit the world.

The original budget was not sufficient to find a stone that I liked colour wise.

After I increased the budget, he quickly went back to the vendor where he saw a lovely stone which was out of my initial budget.

He recut it to remove a small window, and I ended up with a gorgeous neon pink stone, the photo does not do it justice, 7.08mm diameter:

Pink Sapphire 1.93ct 7.08 x 7.08mm.png

This is my inspirational ring design:

This is my ring, the melees are 4.5mm LGDs to cut down on cost, otherwise it would be very expensive to make with natural diamonds!

I worried the size of the LGDs would be too sparkly and dwarf the Sapphire, and was reassured by the bench that it would be fine as the Sapphire is very well cut and sparkly, and the bench was right!

It is a tad too big for a day to day ER to be honest! :lol-2:

Thank you SO much for the information :kiss2: And yes, I am also on the eternal hunt for an antique Tiffany eternity in my size (5.5) to add to my collection & have been for a year. You are right - they are like hens teeth.

Looking forward VERY much to seeing your band when it arrives & how you are going to wear it. Are you also looking for a skinny antique 22ct yellow gold wedding ring to sandwich in the middle? Whatever you decide, it will be utterly stunning.

Definitely not a tad too big. - I love it!

Another one, the ring that trumps them all - my 1.19ct E VS1 EC in her forever home!

The stone was chosen by me in person out of a selection of 3 - it spoke to me when I put it on my hand!

It has huge sentimental value and has a bitter sweet story attached to it.

She is now in her forever home and I love the ring and wear it as often as I can.

Are you looking for oec or fc? I am following your advice and pairing Flora and eternity band with a thin solid band in between. I had my eye on an antique Tiffany 18k yg band that was dated 1886 ❤️ … but that just sold. Maybe rose gold. I am *really* liking Niessing’s Supla Grenadine rose gold, it has a platinum base so it’s more pink than copper, but I’m torn because my preference would be an antique piece.

Lulu… you are living PS dreams… I’m not sure how you focus at all, I would have a million mini videos on my phone and a couple of my kiddo

Quietly adding “categories” to my bucket list… hiding said bucket list to prevent WW3 over here

I’m not fussy as to stone cut, just that I know I want an authentic antique. It’s very had (as I know you appreciate!) to come across these beauties in the correct size. I did find one in Dec with OEC’s, but it had been sized up at some point & the work was obvious & shoddy, so I passed.

That’s so frustrating!!! I bet it was still hard to pass on … there was a size 5 fc eternity on 1st dibs but that sold … I’ll keep looking! Such a bummer the wrong person attempt to size that band. We will find you one! ❤️
