Smashing the cake in each other''s faces. Awful! You show your brand-new husband/wife how much you love them by filling their nostrils with buttercream? Sets a bad precedent for your marriage, and is not cute at all (though many think it is).
Bouquet Throw/Garter Toss. The bouquet throw is v.v. awkward, IMO. There''s a drunken squabble over it and/or hurt feelings. At my wedding, I plan to give the bouquet to the couple that has been married the longest. The garter toss seems a bit tacky to me (especially when the groom takes it off with his teeth! Yuck!), and at most of the weddings I''ve been to, the guys duck out of the way.
People who don''t go to the ceremony but show up at the reception because they heard there would be an open bar. Yes, this actually happened at a wedding I attended.
