John!!! You need to give some guys all the help they can get! My husband proposed in the mall parking lot. He handed me the ring still in the bag right after we purchased it from the store! Sooooooo not romantic. Heck, his heart was in the right place, though. He''s a sweetie, just sometimes a bit clueless, but his heart is always in the right place, even if his proposals aren''t. He says he was just anxious to get the ring on my finger...I say he was just nuts...lol. Either way, he would have gained some benefit from a phamplet which gave him a few pointers!
Well, that''s the aim. Trying to cover it all: A ''diamonds for dummies.''

And just to get my home boy''s back... Did you even LOOK at the diamond in that parking lot-bag light? Did you?

Ummm...no. I was too busy crying! Happy tears, of course. It wasn''t until a bit later that I thought to "inspect" the ring, and a bit later than that when it occured to me that the timing and place of the proposal wasn''t exactly the most romantic. In the end, it was all good, cuz I said "yes", and we''ve been married for 14 years as of last week. And I''ve had PLENTY of other opportunities to see diamonds in ideal lighting conditions since then, courtesy of the clueless home boy...lol!

diamonds look best in diffuse light of course! an overcast day, under the filtering shade of a gazebo would be perfect. of course, a mountaintop and lightly falling snow is very romantic.
2.gif

i almost choose other though...i was completely lulled by the thought of luminescent plankton and kermit

Very unique Belle. I love the gazebo idea. Always have. One knee - traditional. Nice.

I don''t have access to one, but when I read the snow part I pictured a snow-cave with ice everywhere (stalactites and stalagmites) and sun filtering through breaks in the ceiling. That would be a good zone. Spectral colors everywhere. Ice against ice... Also COLD so thar''d be some snugglin''
31.gif
oooohhhh...diffuse cave lighting....sun filtering....ice on ice....and snuggling

i think you''re on to something there!

Depends on which light they are viewed in.

As regards the poll, soft light is the current favorite, with direct light a distant second. Romance ruleth thus far.

I''m partial to the watermelon slushee things at Sonic. There''s an idea for you, John...late summer evening under the halogen lights or whatever at the Sonic Drive in a convertable while sipping a slushee and munching on onion rings. I''d go for that. I bet a diamond would look terrific in those conditions.

Umm, ok well to answer everyone, do you all remember going to BJ's as a kid and your mom Silencing you with the bribe of a Slushee? Those were the best. They were the coke ones, beautiful fantastic and oh so satisfying. And the lighting at the BJ's isn't too shabby either....So yes I guess I am saying that Blake should have forgotten the whole Vegas romantic thing and zoned into my childhood . He should have pushed me around in a cart at BJ's and bribed me with a coke slushee, then when we were in the isle that has economy sized boxes of little debbie, popped the question.

I think I win.

Coke Slurpees are my fave summer treat!! And it''s just sugar, no fat..tee hee.

When we were in FL we went to a Dairy Queen after a grueling bike ride and got these watermelon slushee ''frozen ice ball'' drinks because the pictures looked appealing...EW GROSS. They were literally 99% sugar water (flavored) with these tiny little ice balls. I love sweet stuff as much as the next gal but both of us were totally grossed out. I spent most of the time just sucking the balls out of the straw and trying not to get any sugar water. Total waste!

Batman, Batman ( I shaking my head at my desk...

). Those drinks are only good if bought from a cheapo place like Kmart or 7-11.( or a place like Sams BJ's) DO NOT STRAY- DO NOT. All you have to lose is the respect of your taste buds, and that is A LOT.

Take my word for it.

You''re so right, we were unfaithful and we paid for it with our frozen grimaces.

I''ll take C words for $1000, Alex!

The best ones are at the gas station...you make your own there. They have frozen Coke, frozen Cherry Coke, and Frozen Mountain Dew. My kids love to mix them together, first a layer of Coke, they MD, then Cherry. They are totally addicted. I still like the ones at Sonic, though. The DQ drinks (called Mr. Misty at our DQ) aren''t as good. All the flavor gets sucked out in the very first sips, and all you have left are the little ice balls. Besides, those always give me a brain freeze...
