Actually I love some "religious" music.... I understand (and respect) you aren’t religious @kenny but you may appreciate her voice. ...
I like a variety of music but am a huge Motown fan!! Aretha can still make me sing and dance! We will always have a special place in our hearts for 70 and 80’s music too - our newlywed days!
I spent my early childhood in the south and there was gospel music on the early morning news show every day. I have a real fondness for gospel - very moving for me.
This sounds like me. What part of the south?
Thank you everyone for your concerns, prayers, thoughts and good vibes expressed here and other threads. They are very appreciated!
The REM song hit home. I’m pretty good at keeping my crap together and staying mentally strong but I have to admit this one got me a bit. The way it suddenly came on and her being young for these type of issues. And then there was a point her mental confusion was off the charts and I just wasn’t sure she would find her way back to me. Thankfully it was short lived but having the love of your life recognize you as their brother, then not at all and hallucinating and talking to people and animals not in the room will test you in ways you don’t want to know.
We are still facing some battles but thankfully they are easier. I have faith we will make it fine. Probably more than her so I’m pulling her along like a stubborn mule (trying to resist a joke here, lol) but we are progressing.
One of the coolest things is how our neighbors, church and work family has stepped up and been so supportive. We made a move not quite two years ago so our closest friends & family is about 6+ hours away. I have truly been blown away by their generosity and willingness to just step in and help no matter how trivial. We have a lot to be grateful for and I hope to pay it forward as I know how it has touched our lives in such a sincere and meaningful way.
Anyhow, enough of the mushy stuff. Back to the tunes. For the Queen fans, decided to start my morning right with this one.

Tennessee!
I love Journey. "Lights" is my favorite because of Neal Schon's guitar run. Lol
A few songs popped up on my playlist that I thought you may appreciate @jordyonbass.
A couple of Buckcherry songs too but didn’t want to get my post deleted. Strong language, etc so proceed with caution if you look up. Crazy B*tch and Say F*ck It, the latter being a spin off of the popular Icona Pop song, I Love It.
I also love guitar solos!
I’m sure you’ve heard of GnR November Rain. Slash does some guitar work at around the 4, 5 and 7 minute marks. Maybe one of the longest songs ever at 9+ minutes.
Also I absolutely love Sweet Child of Mine. Slash starts out the song in a solo, lol. Growing up, two of my good friends were twins from a strong Pentecostal family. I introduced them to this song and they loved it. Always wanted to play it whenever they were in my car. LOL, good times.
Thank you for the kind words, they mean a lot. I am glad those songs touched your heart. It’s truly amazing how music can have those effects on us.
And Mrs Sledge is doing better. I should probably make a separate post but after nearly a month in the hospital she is home. Short version is she had strokes twice. We got a diagnosis of CNS vasculitis this last hospital stay. However earlier this week some of her genetics testing came back and we learned she also has CADASIL. We are now unclear if both are running parallel or if symptoms are masked. Both are fairly rare and we have started conversations with Mayo Clinic for a second opinion and confirmation of the right treatment plan.
I know @RunningwithScissors is facing her own medical battles right now. I think @mrs-b just overcame a major surgery. And I’m sure there are others silently facing their own demons. It’s hard to stay strong mentally but perhaps this song can offer some encouragement to anyone that needs a reminder they are enough and can overcome whatever obstacle they are facing. Godspeed my friends!
Oh yes ! I love some GnR! Sweet child 'O Mine is one of my favorites!I also love guitar solos!

Getting the morning started right. I might add the one concert I regret not making. Had the tickets and everything. I could kick my own ass for that one.
Anyhow….
Oh, the concerts.
In the early 80s, my sister and small group of friends went to see as many as we could.
My first concert was the Outlaws in '81.
During those years we saw Molly Hatchet, Allman Brothers, George Thorogood, Def Leppard, Santana, Ozzy, REO Speedwagon, ZZTop, Elvis Costello and many others.
One that stands out was Devo. They wore the flower pot hats, and projected naughty suggestive images on a big screen behind them!
In later years, we saw
Dylan, Springsteen, Elton, Rolling Stones in the big arena venue, but those are much harder to appreciate because of bad seats and too many people.
The smaller venues are so much better.
