What non-bling items are on your holiday wish list this year?

Another one that doesnt really need/want anything. Thought about maybe getting a small K-cup coffee maker. We havent dipped
our toes into that because DH doesnt really go for flavored coffee and likes to make a big pot of coffee. However, I think the kids and
I would enjoy some of the different flavors especially when you want just one cup later in the day.

@tyty333 my Target has the single k-cup maker on sale for $50 today! That’s cheaper that what I paid a couple months ago (maybe $60-something?) Just a heads up!

Totally unnecessary as I already have one that is bigger, however, this is bright, colourful and cute, and designed for travelling purposes.

It was an Amazon Black Friday deal. I was planning to get the teal one, however, only the yellow and the red ones were on offer, so I opted for yellow.

It is really cute!

Wish I’d known about this model when I bought my travel steamer. It looks much more streamlined and compact!

It can only do 1 garment at a time due to the small reservoir, which is fine for what I need.

DK :))

I have a few.. To be honest though I'll be happy no matter what just spending time with extended family and seeing the misso with a new sparkly ring!

Linen stuff - Clothes and sheets, I just want more!

A Magna-cut - "powdered metal steel" - chefs knife in the same style as a Victorinox 8" chefs knife or a "petty" knife. Or just a good geometry mass produced kitchen knife in this steel. Meglio is probably the one I would choose at the moment but it still seems very precious/semi custom. I would feel overly bad chucking the thing in the dishwasher, which is what I feel the steel may be capable of. Defiantly a luxury purchase/gift as my Victorinox 8" does everything I need it to just fine.

Video by a sweaty Australian explaining the relative performance advantage between "new" and "old" steels -

Milwaukee M12 power tools - Specifically the impact driver. I already have an 18V impact driver so the 12V version is a sort of luxury purchase that I don't really need.

I also wish for the timeline where A.I results in overwhelmingly positive things for humanity. Things like the curing and prevention of all diseases, wheelchair bound people walking again, massive positive technological advancement like nuclear fusion ect and not the dystopian death robot timeline.. I would also accept the timeline where A.I just got so good at persuasive language and human psychology it just came up with some new super awesome world religious/political/economic system that made everyone just get along.

I want Top-gun 3 to come out or at least be anounced. I was listening to some podcast with a guy from Lockheed Martin a few months ago and he hinted that they were already filming and this time it would feature stealth aircraft. Maybe the movie would act as a sort of "flex" and feature a previously secret plane.

Perhaps -

With all the stuff and things I want I can't help but feel incredibly privileged. After all, everything I want I don't really need (except for the timeline thing maybe) My thoughts are straying to all the people suffering the crippling effects of inflation, lack of housing and the increased cost of living. What I wish for most, is relief from suffering for these people.

Is "World Peace" a little too unoriginal?

I'm hoping to score one or two more Scoria yoga mats when they go on sale.

If there is a legitimately good sale on an electric tea kettle with preset temperature settings, I'd like to get one of those. Our current kettle has faithfully served us for well over a decade. It works fine which is why I haven't replaced it yet.

I'd also like to get a 2200 cubic inch KUIU pack, but that's something I can wait to get until their 4th of July sale next year, doesn't have to be for the upcoming holidays.

Sam's Club has a Chefman kettle on sale for Cyber Monday.

I was going to ask for it for Christmas but bought it myself because I couldn't wait. I wanted a heated jacket that had heating elements in the arms as well as the trunk. I found one on Amazon and I love it!!! It's so cold today and I'm letting my jacket heat up before I take the dog on a walk. :)

World Peace is not unoriginal and it's the first thing that struck me. I don't normally think about it often but it hounds me now. I have lived long enough to see so many wars and I am exhausted by the number that I've seen. If only as a planet, we could all lay weapons down and look out for each other.

I also don't want or need anything in particular for Christmas. Well, that was until I saw that cute little pink Keurig, now I'm thinking...

I got DH a new robot vacuum since our original is about 10 years old. The new one has the mapping abilities so you can specify to clean a certain room without having to see up roadblocks (open floor plan). He is thoroughly obsessed with it and remarks every time he goes to clean it out because he loves seeing how much dust it picks up

Something similar—a robot mop—has been on my wish list for years, and I finally bit the bullet and got one during Black Friday. Glad your DH is enjoying the new toy!

I think* I'll be getting a new washer...not that I want a new washer (kind of fond of the one I have) but I do want one
that is willing to commit 100% of the time and none of this intermittent BS. I wish it would just die so I know that
its over:cry2:. No more insinuating that I'm asking too much from you. You're either here for me or you're not!:|

By the way, its a Fisher/Paykel that I think died a premature death.

I'm going with Speed Queen next, not the sleekest looking but then, neither am I:lol:
Oh, and I'm on a sconce kick. So! Sconces for every damned roooooom.

Jigsaw puzzles and a Lego set.

Well darn, I wish I had seen this before, as I just donated a lot of puzzles we bought during 2020 and 2021.

Oh this is fun, I'm looking for sconces as well, any stores/websites you recommend?

I have an old house, so I've gone with simple antique style in brass. I had my kitchen fixtures done by OldeBrickLighting. Really nicely made.
They have an Etsy storefront, but I went through their dedicated site because it was easier to coordinate my order.

I'm also on an actual antique fixture hunt for some pendants/lamps and I need to switch out some prettier glass shades for some bridge arms I have.

I love antique light fixtures! Over the years I've installed several. I can recommend a few if you like.

Thank you for the recommendation, I’ll check out their website.

I enjoy going antiquing and am hoping to find sconces that way, but it’s nice to now have a website recommendation since I’ve been looking for a good while without finding any that I think will work.

The “spies” for my phone know me so well, every time I start typing sconce it auto fills with scone . That tracks as I’m not one to turn down a bakery item :lol-2:

Shipped via Goldbelly

S&S Cheesecake from New York
Bunch of yummy bagels

Yup. I’m at the age where all I want for Christmas are my favorite foods :lol-2:

Yummy bagels via Goldbelly - ditto! I'm thinking of ordering some from Utopia Bagels in Whitestone, Queens. I've never tried them, but they're often rated the best in NYC.

Wonderful sconces at www.archantiques.com. Even separate categories for sconces with and without shades.

Etsy shops Classic Illumination https://www.etsy.com/shop/ClassicIllumination?ref=usf_2020 (out of Berkeley CA) and Antique Lighting https://www.etsy.com/shop/AntiqueLighting?ref=usf_2020 (Arizona).

I have bought sconces and ceiling fixtures from all three. Not cheap but everything is rewired and ready to go. My electrician loves them.

No affiliation, just a happy customer.

Wow, beautiful light fixtures on these sites! Swoon!

I'm glad you like them - I am the light fixture enabler in my family. I helped my sister find vintage sconces and a chandelier for her place earlier this year and it was so much fun! Since we're doing the kitchen (the contractor proposed demo just before Christmas - um, no?) I can't replace any more fixtures for some time, but I do enjoy spreading the word.

These are great! I actually have Classic as a favorite saved shop! They have perfect period for my style house.
My house is very basic so DH laughs when I show him all these elaborate lights all the time, that would absolutely look ridiculous- but I waaant them. my house really only fits 'utilitarian' lighting.
This one is great if you want multiples.

Tell him that the plain style emphasizes the beauty of the fixture.

I tried to attach a gif of The Big Lebowski, the rug really tied that room together, did it not? Alas I am not capable.

Luckily, he's totally on board with the lights.
The ones I pick out for fun happen to be ridiculous confections that are tens of thousands and meant for manor houses or public spaces of old. They're Victorian/Rococo productions that need at least 20 ft ceilings. I try to find the craziest, most elaborate ones I can and then deadpan that it will fit somewhere in our little hobbit hole.

Nice little place out of Boston, for more focal lighting. On the more expensive side
Another good source.
Honestly, the very best way to get antique lighting I've found is Ebay.
