What Questions To ASK JA - Light Performance?

Hello,

I'm considering a few diamonds on JA. I've narrowed down my search to specifications to meet my budget and parameters I would hope to result in a great diamond (around 2ct, GIA graded excellent, H Color, VS2-Si1, none - faint fluor, Depth 59.5-62.5, Table 53.5-57.5), but i'm wondering what questions or image requests I should have for JA in reference to "light performance." Also i've asked a few times if you can see the small black speck on the upper left hand portion of the diamond w/ an average naked eye. Obviously this is subjective and a tough question for them to answer and they have been a bit vague in their responses saying "It's a beautiful diamond" and what not, is there a better way for me to ask if this stone is "Eye Clean"?

Here is a link to the rock. I'd be obliged to get all your opinions.

Thanks,

IMO, this stone is unlikely to be eye clean, but maybe they can cover the dark inclusion with a prong?

I personally could not handle a big black inclusion like that. There are better inclusions to have, unless as DF said, it can be covered with a prong. You'd have to ask that question.

:errrr: ..then comes the "mind clean" Q... :wink2:

Hi Thunderfan,

I agree with my friends DF and The Seeker, this stone might not be eye clean but the only way to know for sure is to be extremely specific with the vendor. Ask them if that dark inclusion is visible from any distance, from any angle or any lighting conditions. Also, you could ask them if the inclusion could be covered with a prong but it might be just a tad too far up inside the stone for a prong to reach, also you would need to ask if this inclusion is reflecting inside the stone, if so, you might see Mr Crystal waving cheerfully at you from the other side of the rock.... :wavey:

I really hope this diamond checks out for you, let us know what happens.

Thanks for the reply's. I will ask more specific questions with them about the stone in regards to the black inclusion - I didn't get any feedback on light performance or questions to ask in that regard. Let me know if there is anything I should be asking about.

Thanks!

We are glad to help!

The next thing to do would be to request an Idealscope image for this diamond, that will tell us more about the optical performance. Apparently James Allen can supply up to 3 images one time only, after that there is a fee involved, so it might be worth hunting up two other contenders to be on the safe side if this diamond does not pass muster.
