trill, I LOVE ladybugs, aren''t they sweet? We have, in the last couple years, had an imposter show up (in the house). At first glance, they look just like a ladybug, but upon closer inspection, they are more orange-ish, and apparently from what othe people have said, they will chew through anything wood. So I have to squish them.

OH NO! Don''t squish them!

You can send them to me! Are these the kind you mean? I think they just have a bum rap.

great question....
As the forum knows the first on the list will be jewelry...stopping to compliment people on their jewelry and watches...since the cat was diagosied with cancer and put to sleep day after Thanksgiving...I stop to pet and say hello to the cats around me....Since the car accident in late november then I actually enjoy the roads when they are bare and drivable....I cant pass a junk shop or antique shop with out going in and wondering who owned, used, wore the jewelry, books, painting before they ended up for sale... taking time to read the scriptures and pray everyday and show gratitude for the people in my life. These are a few of my Roses.

my roses are when you are walking up a sand dune and see the first glimpse of ocean and hear the ocean and smell the ocean . i stop in my tracks and take it in.

my other rose is the smell and the quite before a snowstorm. so peaceful and clean.

I think I may be quite easily distractable, because I stop for almost anything! I smell almost every flower, even leaves that look like they might be fragrant. I love to look at the intricacies of flowers, and will stop for quite some time to visit with a cute dog out on a walk.

My biggest thing is rain. If it starts raining, especially if it's a thunderstorm, I will drop everything to sit by a window (or on a porch) and watch it. I sure wish it rained more where I live.

* L.A. after is rains is gorgeous. It''s like putting it in a sonic cleaner... suddenly you can see the mountains in the distance over the cityscape. It''s incredible.

* Lightening storms

* gardens (public, botanical, otherwise)

Great thread!

My roses:

-The smell of fall in the air. I love walking outside and smelling autumn...there is nothing like it
-Coming home to a warm fire in the winter...makes my home glow with warmth and it makes me count all my blessings
-Watching my nephew stare at me and then smile the biggest smile you can imagine on an 8 month-old (he''s my other BF
30.gif
)
-Watching a family of ducks cross the road--babies in tow. I saw this a couple of times at a lake near my home and for some reason it just seems like a miracle.
-Seeing my parents together sometimes...still best friends and so in love...it warms my heart to know that I am a product of that

Okay, so some of my roses are corny, but they are true

No, not the ones around here. They chewed up part of a bathroom at my SIL''s summer home.
40.gif
And they multiply fast... That kinda looks like them though.

jewelerman, you listed some great roses.

cbs, I so wish I lived near the ocean, I can''t imagine ever tiring of it.

musey, funny, I don''t think I ever smelled a leaf!

Bia, fall is my favorite season, always has been. And how sweet about your nephew!

Great thread, Miss El! I can think of so many, forgive me if some are repeats.

Budding trees and flowers. The Spring signifies so much to me.

The late August lushness of trees. I just love big trees that are full. To think that a large tree has been around for a 100 years is amazing.

Fall foliage. There is nothing like driving through Vermont during peak.

Sunsets.

Summer thunderstorms, although they sometimes scare me.

Waking up to the first snow when the ground has not yet been touched and the trees are still covered.

The ocean when the beach is empty.

My children when they are happy with themselves after accomplishing something they are proud of.

Waking up to my older two playing their musical instruments, except my oldest''s tenor sax! That thing is loud!!

When my youngest decides to crawl into bed with me and waking up to him. I never mind his little feet in my face, or his arm slung around me neck.

An organized and clean house. That rarely happens, but when it does I like to sit back and take it in.

Watching my dog run as if he were a deer prancing around. He is such a goof!

I am sure there are so many more. I try not to take things for granted because I know how quickly life can change.

MonkeyPie, kittens seem to be a fave. They are so cute, I need to talk hubby into one somehow....

Linda, lol That''s hilarious the boys honk at the geese.

And I bet that parot is awesome, how many words does he know??

something, you listed some great ones. Nature nerver fails!

Bliss, I had to laugh about about the sky compliment. It reminded me of when my middle one was about 3 years old. We were at a big summer family gathering. Most of us were sitting outside, and he walked out of the house, looked up at the sky, put his arms up and said very enthusiastically, ''hello sky!''. Cutest thing I''ve ever seen.
9.gif

bee, lots of animal lovers on here!

kitty, aren''t mountains awesome? I visted my sis once when she was living in Idaho, and we spent a week camping in them, without a tent btw. One of THE best times of my life.

Amber, do you have a favorite flower?

simply, I will look at a stylish woman!

2, I don''t know that I''d say men are better to look at, but I agree there''s definitely more good looking women than men, at least around here. That reminds me of another though, a nice looking man in a suit.
30.gif
LOVE suits.

aj, I have sat in the car many a time to finish a song!

Lorelei, that was touching about your hubby laughing.
5.gif

babysteps, I can watch babies doing anything, aren''t they facinating?

I''m so glad to see so many appreciate the little things. This world has become so fast paced....

Ellen: If you look at Beacons avatar, that is exactly how my Taco looks. He knows a lot of words.

His latest one is "huh" That is because the boys say that all the time.

He also says. Whatcha doin? and whatcha doooooooooooooo?

comemere Mazie,

Peewee (my little cockatiel that died several years ago)he still calls for him,

I wanna bath NOW, come on

uh huh (he immitates me on the phone)

beep beep beep beep BEEP (that is our microwave HA)

gimme a kiss

I love you

you good boy

Hi Taco

let me out (he says that in the morning)

He is also making a new noise like he is arguing, I am sure that is coming from the boys arguing. It is a really funny sound to hear. We finally figured out what he was trying to imitate and told the boys.

He also used to imitate the barks of our other 3 Lhasas that have passed away. He has stopped doing them though.

When there is music on he dances. He bobs his head up and down. As you can tell, I adore his little green guy. He will be 16 years old in March.

Puppies, kitties, babies... OOOO!

I''m also a runner... so I make sure that I dont step in any of their ROSES... if you catch my drift.

(I also cheer up looking at eye candy!)

Miss 7's, you indeed have a lot! That's a good thing, as Martha would say.
25.gif
And oh how I miss snuggling with little ones in bed. (and I'll have you know, it took 2 days to get "kumbya" out of my head!)
9.gif

Linda, my gosh, he says SO many things! I love it. lmao at uh huh, from you on the phone
9.gif
, and beep from the microwave. That's hysterical! I can't believe he still calls for the one that passed away, because while it's kinda sad, it's also sort of amazing....How old can they live to be?

I want one now! I could get a girl, and actually have girl talk with someone in this testosterone laden house.

tlh, eyecandy works!

Ellen: With proper care, they can live a long long time. 25+ years. A friend of mine, her little guy Tuey is 33 years old and still going strong. BTW girls don''t talk as well as boys. Yes, he and my little Peewee the cockatiel were buddies. I raised Peewee from an egg. My heart broke when he died.

I stop to look at the moon. My father (on the opposite coast) started it. We think of each other when we look at the moon, knowing it a a constant that we can both see no matter how far away we are. Makes me feel close to my parents and reminds me to slow down a little.

Always make a point of stopping what I''m doing, and just watch the sky, if I notice a particularly beautiful sunset. I will appreciate all of them, but sometimes you just have to quit what you''re doing and be amazed and enthralled.

I listen a lot to a public radio station that plays classical music, in the car (during my commute). Sometimes the piece is so wonderful, I''ll be at my destination, but keep listening until it finishes, because I don''t want to interrupt the beauty of the music or my pleasure in listening.

We do what we call "The Deer Tour" in our car when we come home from being out at night. We go home, but not stop, go around the block just to see (and talk to, yes we do) the deer that come out at night. I know they are an annoyance to some people, but we think they''re adorable. And they do listen.

Oh, well, of course not.

Lisa, how sweet. You''re so lucky to have him.

Holly, that''s neat about the deer.

Okay, I was just walking outside and smelled something vaguely similar to tuberose... so of course (tuberose is my faaaaaaaavorite) I walked around smelling everything upwind of me (even leaves and grass) to figure out where it was coming from. No luck.

Made me think of this thread.

I love when babies "flirt" with me. You know how they kind of look at you, and smile? I love that.

And when my favourite songs come on the radio, I love turning up the music and singing along.

I love having flowers in my apartment, and I really love taking a moment when I come home and the apartment is all clean to just enjoy having my own place.
