Hello all,
I have a gorgeous 2 ct solitaire in a tiffany style knife edge platinum setting, which I have had for 3 years. The setting is not too high. I have been wearing a plain platinum band with it which is quite thin and nicely rounded. The look is elegant and classy. However lately, I have been thinking about a diamond band to go wiith my solitaire and started looking seriously.
I have looked at channel set bands but when I showed them to hubby, he didn''t think it looked like it was adding anything and I would have to agree. I then found at my jewellers, a stunning shared prong band that is like the SP raphael setting- very open and minimal metal. It has 9 pointers and all you see is Diamond and the solitaire still pops- it somehow opens it up even more. Its a perfect look. It is quite low and comes up to base of the 6o''clock prong which is quite thick.
Here are my concerns- from everything I have read, is scratching a real issue. I have a spacer and the thin band but the look is not the same and my jeweller says the rubbing is not an issue.
Also, my jeweller tells me the platinum version is $900 US more than the white gold one and thats out of the question for me. Will going for white gold be a problem?
Should I just stay with the plain band as its all to hard.
Thanks in advance.

As far as scratching, I would have to go on the advice of my jeweler who has seen the pair in person. As far as mixing the metals, I don''t think I would mind-since the wedding band would be shared prong and the metal seen would me minimal. If you still want to wear the original band (for sentimental reasons), you could always wear them all together with the ering in the middle for a stacked effect.
