just wanted to say congrats! the baby is gorgeous, and I think it''s really sweet that her mommy is going to get a special gift to commemorate her birth.

Congrats on your baby granddaughter! She is adorable! And I''m sure your daughter will enjoy her new ring.

I don''t understand why anybody thinks its out of line for a mother to buy her daughter jewelry.

I am surprised to read hostility on giving a new mother jewelry after giving birth! I never got jewelery after giving birth, nor did I expect it, but had I have gotten it, I would have enjoyed it. But for my family practically it was not a great time to spend a lot of money on jewelry when you have a new child to support.

However, that being said, yes of course the baby is equal husband and wife''s child. BUT my husband becoming a father of 4 was zero physcial stress on his body. For me carrying 4 babies through 4 pregancies, giving birth 4 times, let me tell you men- its NO fun giving birth or being big and pregnant. End results are amazing but the process is NOT fun!!

So if someone can afford it and wants to, nothing wrong with giving a gift.

And I"m betting the women who wrote negatively on the practice of a nice gift after may feel differently after they have gone through pregnancy and childbirth.

Congrats Woo!!! Allexah is totally and completely gorgeous! So glad that everyone is happy and healthy. Will you give us pics of the eye candy? hehe.

I''m surprised by all the sardonic naysayers here who are so negative about the (franky, not common enough) gesture of giving gifts to a new mother. Most new moms do not "expect" gifts upon delivery of a child, but I''d say the vast majority, if not all, would REALLY appreciate the thoughtful gesture. Speaking as a mother of 2 (who did NOT receive any gifts for birthing babies), carrying a child over 9 months and dealing with all the risks, complications, and discomfort of pregnancy and THEN having to squeeze a watermelon out of something the size of a peach....well, if my DH had brought me a little something, I would''ve dissolved in tears of happiness and joyful surprise. After all that, what''s wrong with surprising her with a pretty bauble that shows you were thinking of her? Sheesh.

hehehhehe, I love this thread... :) Baby is wonderful and I am soooooooooooo in love with her
