Hi Mine,

Stones in Vivid blue over 3cts and VVS start at $15,000/ct Large Windex blue stones are even more. I wear a 1/2ct Vivid Blue with a 1 1/2 green/blue in a pendent I never take off. I also have a few I made into jewelery for my wife, the largest of which is 1 1/2cts.

Belle,

I do think these are my favorite stones. I will see if I can find the picture I was looking for of a pure windex blue crystal and post it. These stones just about glow in the dark.

Here is another blue sapphire that I have. I am confused with the color
33.gif
. Is it called cornflower blue or Kashmiry blue color.... Any opinion about the color?
21.gif
I think the color is gorgeous. To my totally untrained eye, it looks Kasmiry to me, particularly if it "glows".

I have a pad sapph that is somewhat "cloudy"...and I suspect some might not care for it. But I love it. Sitting in my jewelry box, it "out glows" all it's neighbors considerably.

How does your sapphire look in different light? It is my understanding that Kasmir types "hold their glow" in almost any lighting.

For comparison, here's my Burma. It's definitely beautiful, especially in direct sunlight and brightly lit stores. But in my jewelry box, next to the pad, it doesn't stand a chance.

WOW... MJO... I think I need to rethink my aspirations for the future...

That is AWESOME>.. You must come across some pretty nice finds..

Years ago I saw some "windex blue" paraibas. It was a parcel of small stones that a high-end jeweler was going to use as accent stones. (Apparently she never used them again...the cost was prohibitive, even for teeny stones.)

The problem I had with them was that they were SO bright, SO neon, SO "windexy" that they looked utterly fake to me! It''s like I couldn''t fathom Mother Nature ever producing such things!

Hi Mine, what do you mean by I am hiding something?

Hi Widget, I will take a look under incandescent light and take pictures. The sapphire actually is from Ceylon mine. Is it possible that Ceylonese sapphires have similar color to Kashmir sapphires?

Hi, any of you could tell me how to reply someone question by putting the question inside the light blue box? I am new here and not so familiar with all the features of this site. Thanks.

I''m sure they occasionally do. As one or more of the "Big Guns" continue to say: Kasmir, Burma, Ceylon, Madagascar, etc. etc. are PLACES...not colors!

Mine,

Prior to the advent of "country of origin" certificates, most experts use the terms "Kashmir" and "Burma" to describe gems of superior quality that had the look of the finest stones produced in those locations. So now here we are in a world where labs can determine actual countries or regions of origin.

So what happens, stones with certificates that state origins to be Kashmir or Burma allow dealers to sell these stones for twice or four times a comparable Ceylon or Madagascar stone. You see the source of the perversion?

Ceylon and Madagascar sapphires can absolutely look just like fine Kashmirs and fine Burmas. If they do, whats the differnce? Well, you can buy a Kasmir-blue Ceylon for a quarter of the price. Stupid, no?

Here is an example. After I purchased this Ceylon sapphire I showed it to one of the world''s leading dealers. He suggested that if I submitted it to a famous lab, my chances were 50/50 of getting a "Kashmir" Certificate which would have allowed me to dramatically increase the price. Well, to make a long story short I sold the stone to a collector as a Ceylon sapphire. It was pricy but not anywhere near the price of a comparable Kashmir.

I am fond of bloodstones...I have a few that are simply stunning. I dont know what about them speaks to me but they have always struck me as almost sexual in their apperence, no clue why though.

I tried to take pictures of the stone under incandescent light (my light is kind of low). The stone sparkles the same color as under daylight, but does not glow like under daylight. And, the color of the stone is hard to capture. It shows different blue on my digital camera. I don''t know why. I think digital cameras have a problem to capture certain colors under certain lighting condition.

Pretty, even uncut aren''t they? I fell in love with them the moment I saw them. I haven''t been able to find a pure windex blue I could afford yet .

Can you imagine a chocker made out of these....oh to die for!

Okay, here goes my dream collection:
-Nice, big demantoid with a visible horsetail
-Paraiba tourmaline
-Blue star sapphire or maybe a star ruby... or both!
-Dramatically color-changing alexandrite, catseye or faceted
-Couple of different shades of padparadscha (for comparison, ofcourse!0
-Some really interested multicolored sapphires, like this one:
S-4756C.jpg
which is described as an, "interesting eyeclean piece [that] shows extreme dichroism, to the point of being a mosaic of green and blue patches."
-A sparkly crysoberyl
-A pretty little piece of Benitoite
-Red beryl
-A huge, rough, black or brown and heavily included diamond
-Some neat carving and fancy cuts, doesn't matter the material so much.

Yes, sure... The faceted thing is blue zircon, and the picture is reasonably realistic. Large ones are really intense - so one of those near 10 cts in the middle of a ''20 style sead pearl choker is not quite so esotheric a choice

Velourial! I love your dream collection! For mine, I''d add:

A big, fire engine red spinel

Santa Maria Aquamarine

Fancy intense colored diamond

Harlequin black opal with LOTS of red in it
