What's a "wish list"?

I have wanted one of almost everything at one time or another. At this point, most things we buy are somewhere between wish list and impulse -- but not quite at either extreme. I know myself well enough by now to know that any eye-catching super-cool anything -- jewelry, car, furniture, art -- needs a cooling-off period. The jewelry purchases that we have enjoyed the most have been "opportunity-based" (ooh, would you look at that) and not the culmination of a long, methodical search. Any wish list is excessively limited by my imagination.

A wish list is just a list of wants and must haves so that I can have a cooling period, like you said. My impulse purchases have died down significantly since I established one.

I'm just over here with my $5 Target candles nbd but I bought a $36 cloche matchholder from anthropologie to light them.

No pity for the owner of that fabulous emerald ring

Who cares about impulse buys when you own something like that??!!

Judging by my “accidental” purchase today - about $2,700.

Ooops.

But to be fair I have a remembrance day ball to go to and not a thing to wear…. well that’s not quite true but it’s my first black tie event since before Covid!!!



Problem is I now simply HAVE to get my jeweller to make detachable Pearl and diamond drops the same as the pendant to add to my emerald studs so I can also wear my emerald ring. In a week.

I can't answer that.

My mind doesn't keep separate bank accounts for "impulse" vs. "planned" purchases.
I don't think or live that way.
