What''s with the peeling "Pricescope" logo?

Not that anyone solicited my opinion, but I agree that the Pricescope name should not be obscured in any way. I also think you're diluting the brand by adding too many other elements (cute though they are, and much as I love raccoons!).

I'd keep it simple, and add "Inforum yourself" (without the distracting capped U) as a simple tagline under Pricescope. I do like the peeling effect, but again, would want the whole name visible.

OK, now that me the marketer has spouted off... what a cute coon!

Oh, and I like the new navigation -love that it's the same from all pages!

Hey, It is 5:00 somewhere!

For my third unsolicitated opinion...I agree completely with Q. You are diluting the Pricescope brand with multiple logos/visuals. I would stick to the PS logo, keep the peel if you like -- it's kind of cool, but don't obscure the name at all and put the Inforum Yourself logo under the peel. I don't think I'd get cute on the caps, but that's just me. I like the Inforum Yourself message since the Pricsescope name doesn't imply that.

I'm in total, VEHEMENT agreement on this point: the special effects should absolutely not interfere with a clear presentation of the Pricescope name.

Here is my cheesy idea I just thought of

Picture of a microscope where the coon is. (Get it...scope)

Cheesy/catchy line: Putting the diamond/gemstone industry under magnification...

The "look" of Pricescope is the diamond in the web. unless you want to undertake a complete re-branding, leave it alone or work with that idea to further the image.

I have done advertising and PR for three of the largest brands in US--and world--history...You've established Pricescope's idenity; I agree with the others and would leave it alone and just improve on what's here, unless there are marketing initiatives and needs that require a stronger, more identifiable presence in the marketplace.

Edited to note: I love the "diamond in the web" image--Pricescope is a diamond in the web of poor stones, dishonest vendors, and misinformation. I'll tell you one thing--I am NOT trading in my pendant for a little racoon head with 2 beady 5 point H&A eyes!

I'm very grateful for all your great comments, guys, but...we don't really care about our "brandname". We realize that from a corporative marketing viewpoint it is a no-no but we care even less about corporate marketing.

Aren't we fed up already with all this corporate stuff? All these brandings, product placements, synergy of AOL-Times-Warner...

Let us be the first who don't care if the name is covered with Rocky Raccoon. This one is not eating garbage but reading and inforums himself

We just don't take it seriously

Thanks for clarifying, Leonid...what a refreshing take on things and a reaffirmation of this site's purpose. It's not about marketing or image--what a concept!

I love Pricescope's elegance and clean, crisp look...It whas always been the most elegant and classiest forum.

As far as corporate America goes, I could go on for hours but it pays the bills and keeps me in carats...it serves its purpose.

Rocky might be getting engaged. He needs to make an informed decision on a rock if he's to impress his girlfriend.

Okay, I like the little guy! Let Leonid have fun with it!!!!

If Google can change their logo in whimsical ways all the time, then so can Pricescope!

That's IT! I quit!!! I've been doing marketing for years, but EVIDENTLY in the wrong places, because I sure as HECK can't afford an ounce of your jewelry, Jennifer!

I can't believe it's taken me this long to realize that not only does the not-for-profit sector not appreciate my marketing efforts, they're never gonna pay me real money for them either. Sigh.

Corporate America, here I come!

Yay! It appears that Rocky has stuck!

Oh, come on q! you're doing just fine.

I often think about leaving and working for a charitable group--and I think if we don't have kids, I'll retire early and do that kind of work. Maybe do PR for the ASPCA or the ALDF.That would be awesome.

There are days I sit in my office and think, "Good grief... what are we all doing?"

I like the racoon, but he should be coming out of a garbage can rather than recycling bin.

I imagine that he has found a few choice bits in the stuff others have discarded. Some of us are 'coons which were shoo-ed away from other forums.

Mythologically speaking,

Mr. R washing bear is some king of trickster who knows everything and brings up surprises. I know that in the US this guy is supposed to trash the trash (including mine in RI) but, this is where his fame of finder comes from anyway. See below ?

Who knows what a raccoon might bring...

Yeah yeah... I was half-joking. Corporate life is not for me. But still, some days I can't help but think about how much more I could be making for the exact same work.

Still, not wearing suits and pantyhose.... that's worth at least a few dozen grand

.

I'm with you though. I'd LOVE to retire early and just help out some animal rescue groups. I've volunteered at a couple over the last few years, and it's so rewarding. Just gets to be so much on top of a "regular" job, and leaves even less time for home life with my hubby and my own pooches. Tough to juggle it all...

This is MY Rocky!

Good for you guys. Sorry for the harping....its the serious marketing genes in me, and I think it comes from people caring about Pricescope. Non-serious marketing is much more fun.

I prefer the original Rocky where he was more subtle. This second look is slghtly too cartoonish for me, and I am not a fan of the red text with the subtle grays of the banner....my two cents.

Oh and the note about him reading to inform himself, to me that would be PERFECT. Nix the recycling bin and show him reading the book!

Love the new nav bar, much easier!!

'been thinking of raccoons all day. This is way fun

That's a nice one, Ana. I can see the word "Pricescope", keep the peeling wallpaper, and still have the cute racoon mascot scrounging for the "deal of the day".

They all chased him away. I didn't see what the big deal was. Oh well, Leonid. I still think you did a great job..thank you!

...it was fun while it lasted

thanks Leonid!

was enjoying seeing how he developed, and was enjoying hearing peoples opinion.

Oh Rocky, we hardly knew ye!

Too bad about Rocky, but I like the new look!

I really liked the racoon too~!~!

Rocky! What a short life!!!! Boohoo, I loved you....

Poor Rocky. I guess he checked into his room, only to find Gideon's bible.

I like the "u" in italics instead of capitalized.
