Yeah sometimes I seriously question what was I thinking embarking on this PhD lark. Well I know what I was thinking but that''s a long story. Back when I started it I needed to do it, but not so much any more. It''s a bit complicated. Anyway it''ll never hurt me to have a PhD!

I could have written that. Sigh... 7 bloody years that I''ll never get back. But I might manage to finish this September or October. It depends on how my next few experiments turn out. (Neurobiology student.)

As you say, it can''t hurt me, right?

It''s fun to see what everyone does for a living.

I am a nurse too - in an intermediate ICU. Permanant nights (7p-7a). It is absolutely grueling sometimes. But rewarding, all the same.

Dandi, that''s funny about the CEO. I can just imagine! I take it the lady didn''t make it?

No my love, she didn''t. If any good can come from such a tragic situation, from HER perspective from what we can see, is that she nodded off in the front seat (no complaints of pain or distress or anything) of her car, and never woke up. Not a bad way to go for the little darling, in my humble opinion.

It was a bit of a giggle about the CEO, although I suppose in situations like that, training reigns and hierarchy goes out the window!

I hear ya on that one!! We had a code last week where we worked on a guy for over an hour. I work at a teaching hospital, so a bunch of interns were watching the code. Anyhoo, the Dr that was running the code yelled out in the hall "we need fresh arms for compressions!!". The 3 or 4 nurses and techs had been taking turns for over 40 minutes, and were absolutely beat. All these young men in the room and the hall, not one of them stepped up... you''d think they''d want the experience. So me and another nurse end up doing it. Which is fine, I don''t mind and am all for helping out, but it meant 4 nurses in that room and 3 for the other 20 patients. I end up yelling at the interns to get out, make room if you are not involving yourself in trying to save a life... Sorry for the rant, but those kind of situations really get to me.

I''m glad to hear the lady went peacefully. Quick and painless... that''s how it should be.

I'm a Graduate Assistant. During the year, I work for the music department as the music librarian, the assistant director of the Madrigal Choir, and a part time recording engineer.

Since its summer, I work in the admissions office as a receptionist and tour guide. Exciting times.

And I'm getting my masters in music technology at the same time (for no tuition, thanks to the GA position!)

Good luck, Giggle!! Nursing school was HELL for me, and the NCLEX was ridiculously stressful, but it''s all worth it!!!

I''m an attorney at a firm in Philadelphia.

It''s OK, I guess.

I think I''d like it more if I had hadn''t gone into the field so young (I started at 24, and I just turned 26). It''s a pretty tiring profession and I entered it after being in school for approximately 19 years straight.... I should have taken a break first.

I''m another lawyer to be!

Currently I work as a legal secretary at the legal aid organisation in South australia but I graduate from my law degree July next year.

I am employed permanent part time but I am a reliever which means that I travel to all the different offices in the city and work in all the different departments, which makes my job interesting and also means that I don''t have ongoing responsibility which is great for a final year law student!! I really like it as well cos I feel that I am helping people. I want to work here after I graduate as well.
