Ok, My mom and step dad will be celebrating their 20 year wedding annivesary this year. My dad wants to upgrade my mom''s ring. She really wants and Emerald as her center stone. I no absolutely nothing about emeralds. Can you guys suggest a couple of venders who specialize in this area. Once we find the stone we will also need to have a setting made. She has a pic of something she likes so that part shouldn''t be as difficult. I have seen several of Wink''s colored stones, would this be a good place to start?

Wink is very good but for emerald I would go to:

http://arthurgroomandco.com

He buys the rough cuts the stones and then treats the emeralds when needed with his own reversable patented excel treatment. The stones come with a lifetime guarrenty.

I am not an emerald expert - but whats are the desired specs ? Budget?

Emeralds can be quite expensive - and there are issues with durability.

When it comes to "top market" colored stones you can't go wrong with Richard Orbach over at cherrypicked. I am a customer and Richard will treat you right if you give him a call.

Wink is a good person to call too.

Here is an example Of one nice emerald. from cherrypicked.

You might want to consider other nice green stones, which are cheaper, like Tsavorite.

You might check out: www.twin-diamonds.com

They have a large assortment of mostly Zambian emeralds..

thank you guys so much. I will try to figure how how set my mom is on an emerald of if another green stone would work. Her birthstone is emerald so i''m not sure she''ll go for something else but it''s sure worth a try. I''ll check out the links and report back.
