Next town over. In 2019 we were starting to have the discussions of downsizing, but as my husband will never truly retire, we are planning on staying in the same area ( SE PA ). I do really like where we live. I like having 4 seasons and we are an hour from Philadelphia and close to major cities and airports. Our county has prioritized open space and we have a 5000 acre park down the street.
Our soon to be married son came to us and said how about we ( me ) buy a big piece of land and we will build on one side and you and Dad build on the other. The house we live in is not easily adaptable to being ADA compliant or even having a master bedroom on the first floor so I declared “I’m in.” I bought 45 acres and we subdivided it and they built their house and now I’m trying to get ours started. We do have a house at the Jersey shore, which I am looking forward to spending more time at. Oddly enough, the property taxes are very low because it’s much more of a tourist destination or weekend home island so I don’t think the schools are much of a draw there. if I didn’t have grandchildren, I could spend a lot more time there. I love being a block and a half from the beach.
