Where would you like to retire?

Turks and Caicos hands down. Well, that''s assuming it stays as serene and quiet as it is now. I am hoping it doesn''t get too developed and full of casinos and such.

Fancy, I think it will not be so. Over Christmas when we were there the construction was amazing. And I know many people investing there in real estate and development so I think stores and amenities will follow soon too...

I hate bugs as well. And I do not need something blazing hot, I just hate ice and slush and bitter cold. So NYC would be great and then somewhere to go to in the winter.

I also think it depends on my kids like Penn said. The thought of college is killing me so I cannot imagine not living somewhere near at least one of them.

Palm Springs and do summers in Newport Beach

My hubby would love to retire out of state, probably Colorado. Me, I don''t want to leave my grand-boys. I am already retired, DH isn''t. I don''t want to retire to where there is snow. I am a California girl and to used to the weather here.

Italy. 100% Italy.
Tuscany, Umbria, or Abruzzo.

Lake Como please.
I''m with you, Pandora. A villa close to George Clooney''s would be ideal

Back to reality now

I''m retired but hubby isn''t, and for years we had thought that a canal home on the Intracostal Waterway would be ideal for us, but now it''s not nearly as appealing for some reason.

Now that we have grandgirls, we want to be close to family and would not be happy unless we could be within a couple of hours away from them.

One thing I know for sure is that I don''t want to live 1" farther north of where we are now. If we can live somewhere in this area (southern Ontario), but be able to afford to stay a month (February) in Mexico, or another affordable but warm location, that would be ideal.

In my dreams or reality??

Assuming the question''s based in reality, I would like to have a house in the Poconos (like Gwen) and a house down the Jersey Shore... all our family is in the Philly area, and I believe these choices are strategically "close enough yet far away enough", ya know?

Plus, I love summers down the shore and winters up the mountains... Ooooh, I just thought that it''d be cool if we had a real nice RV to travel the country, too.

In my dreams? Hmmmm... how about a house on every continent?

I guess it really doesn''t matter as long as I can spend my golden years with my honey :::::EVERYONE CAN SAY AWWWW:::::
.......i know that was really cheesy........

traverse city, mi

. every season is beautiful. i''ve traveled a decent amount and still no place compares to how happy i get when i am there. i''m just lucky that stefan agrees, or else we would be retiring separately!

My parents are retiring to the city where my (and their) alma mater is. I think that''s SO COOL - they''re really involved with alumni stuff, and they say that the best years of their life was there, so they want to go back. Strangely enough, DH''s parents have mentioned retiring to the town where his alma mater is.

I could see doing those things...I guess the reality of retirement is that when I retire someday, I want to be close to family and good medical care - although I wouldn''t mind having a summer home in Mexico -- ooh, or Spring-Fall in Italy. :)

I have a condo in a historic hi-rise a block from the ocean now. If I keep it, I guess that''s where I''ll retire.

I have been thinking about dumping it in a couple of years, so maybe Galveston or Padre Island. I just want something affordable with ocean access.

I plan on retiring in Hawaii on the Big Island hopefully in just a few more years. Hubby and I already own a home there, so hopefully we can get there soon.

Greece.

But I''d do anywhere on the Mediterranean.

I''ll probably end up retiring in Dublin but I wouldn''t mind retiring in Barcelona or New York.

I''ve never been but I think I''d LOVE to retire in Hawaii...Kuai, specifically. Based on what Skippy alone has said, it sounds (and looks) like heaven. I agree with others who have said that there are so many places they''d like to go to first, before deciding. But in my dream world, it''d be Kuai.

Other places I''d strongly consider:

Charleston, SC (I''ve never been but I''ve heard great things about it)
North Carolina (again, never been but I''ve heard it''s great. I think I''d prefer the water to the mountains)
Montecito, CA (gorgeous!)
Santa Barbara, CA
Carmel, CA (never been but would love to visit)
San Diego
Florida

I''d love to live on a lake or on the ocean someday. I''d love to own a second home. I doubt that will ever happen but I can dream...
