Hi guys! First post but I have been doing a lot of reading and you all have such good information. My bf and I are looking at rings and I''m debating between two stones from white flash. Could I get your opinions on which would be better?

Both are modified brilliant cushions

Choice 1: 1.11 carat, 6.29x5.61x3.88, Color - D, Clarity - VVS1, Polish - Excellent, Symmetry - Very Good, Fluorescence - None, table % - 61, Depth % - 69.2%, $6200

Choice 2: 1.02 carat, 6.35x5.63x3.53, Color - E, Clarity - VS2, Polish - Excellent, Symmetry - Very Good, Fluorescence - None, table % - 59%, Depth % - 62.7%, $5300

I''m comfortable with either price..just looking for something that will really sparkle. Choice 2 has been verified as being "lively with no dead spots," still waiting on the news on how Choice 1 looks. Is the first one too deep?

Welcome!

What is the WF verdict on these diamonds and do you have photos and ASET images etc? The depth isn't necessarily too deep, see what WF say when they evaluate it, they are very experienced and won't steer you wrong. It appears the second diamond will look a similar size to the first.

Thanks! I don''t have any pictures yet, and WF hasn''t actually seen either diamond yet...they are both at suppliers. Maybe I''ll have them pull them both in since they both look good on paper.

Thats the trouble, you can''t judge without seeing them, or having a trusted expert evaluate the diamonds for you! If budget is a consideration then concentrate on the E VS as it is cheaper and will likely look as large as the D going by the measurements, but of course if you would like to see both then call ''em both in!

Also you might know you can drop from DE colour and VVS a bit if you want, but this is of course a personal preference and feel free to ignore that if you wish!

I am just curious - have you seen non-modified cushions? The look is very different.

I personally like tables that are a little smaller.

I actually haven''t seen the non-modified cushions (at least I don''t think). My cushion fascination started at Tiffany with the Novo, which I do love, and my bf is willing to get if I want, but at around 15k for a 1 carat, I thought I''d look elsewhere to see if there was something more reasonable. I''d like to stick around 1-1.25 carats because I have very tiny hands but figured if I was staying in that size range, and was not going with the Tiffany, I wanted a really nice diamond, hence my pulling D/Es and VVSs.

I''m really looking for sparkly (which girl isn''t?!). We tried on the 1895 at Cartier in a radiant cut and I swear you could see that thing sparkle from across the room. I prefer the non-crushed ice look but still want the best sparkle...will a modified brilliant cushion give me the best shot at that?

I think see what the WF verdict is when they get the diamonds in and can send you photos, so much with cushions is personal taste and you probably know we can't tell much by the numbers.

This is a good thread to show different types of cushion.
