Hi All,
I am making a pair of earrings for my mother in law. She is in her early 70's, loves to wear chandelier earrings so her earring hole is a bit bigger. She is a petite woman at 5 ft tall with medium sized ear lobes.
I'm having a tough time deciding which setting to choose for her. Each of these designs are beautiful in their own way but what would you choose if this was for you?

I'd choose the first ones because the flat disk shape would sit better on my lobes. Everybody's ears are different. There are many earrings which don't seem to sit right on my ears and others which look perfect. What a nice gift! I like the look a lot.

I have earrings like the first ones and they sit very well against my ear and are super comfortable to wear.

I like the look of the second ones but I agree that the first ones would probably give more support with the flat back side
of the earring. My holes are a bit stretched out (Seems I just have wimpy earlobes) and I'd be afraid the second ones
would just stretch them out even more.

They are both beautiful!

I actually like the second one better, but suspect the first one would look better on my ears. For some reason, martini settings don't work for me but they do for most people.

The first ones are a bit dressier and I love the simplicity of the martini. They look more elegant in design to me.
With older earlobes [I have two of those myself! =) ] the first may work better unless the extra metal makes them heavier.
I imagine it might depend on how long her lobes are, not only the size of the holes.

How's that for a non-answer?!

I prefer the second setting but agree with the others that the first might lay better on her earlobes. Any way you can have her try on similar settings to see how they look on her ears before committing to either design?

And what a nice gift for your MIL- Lucky lady!

I prefer the first setting, both for aesthetics and practicality.

2nd, for ease of cleaning.

Just want to suggest wider backs which can provide stronger support, so the earring would sit nicely on earlobe.

I like the second ones. The halo is smaller and accents the sapphires more.

The first. I sent back a pair like the second because they didn't sit right on my ear.
