Dear Friends,
While working at Whiteflash one of my favorite duties has been serving as company spokesman here on Pricescope. I have become very attached to the community and to you, my friends and colleagues.
I wanted to share that I’ve recently accepted an administrative position with a company in another sector of the industry and will be moving on from Whiteflash. My new duties will include education, but I’ll be interfacing primarily with professionals and operating in different markets.
I feel it is respectful and proper to allow Whiteflash a period of clear transition here. To that end I’ll be absent from the forum during my ‘newlywed’ period with the new job. Once my feet are on the ground and my new employer is comfortable with disclosure I look forward to resuming participation. It’s out of respect for the PS community and in agreement with both Whiteflash and my new employer that this joint decision was made. Logically, my JohnQuixote username will be retired, since a signature change would lead to confusion in past Whiteflash-specific posts. Andrey will allow me a new username (John P or similar I imagine). I’ll be the same guy, just not a WF spokesperson.

I’m excited to move into a new area of the trade. Though this is a logical evolutionary step for me it was not an easy one. Whiteflash is a great place to work, with unlimited potential and a true family atmosphere. My sincere thanks to Brian Gavin and Debi Wexler for the encouragement and support they’ve offered during my deliberations. I’m fortunate to count them among my friends, as I do all my valued Whiteflash co-workers.
Secondly,
It is my privilege to announce the new Whiteflash ambassador to Pricescope.
We hoped to find someone with a consumer’s perspective, strong communication skills, familiarity with PS and a solid understanding of our company. With these things in mind we approached, and were delighted to reach an agreement with, a special person who has all of this and more - long-time Pricescope member Aljdewey. Al begins employment at Whiteflash today and will begin posting on the forum as Allison D. We hope you will welcome her anew, as she makes a transition from consumer to professional in the trade.

There are so many remarkable things about Pricescope and the opportunities it affords anyone, whether shopper, enthusiast or professional. I feel fortunate to be a part of the community and look forward to the years ahead. Take care - I''ll be back.

John we'll miss you as the 'face' of WF, and we'll miss you while your transitioning, but I'm so happy to hear you will be back! Thanks to Andrey for being so accomodating with the shuffling name changes!

And congrats to Aljd, Allison, who we all love, for her wonderful new position with such a great company!

john, first of all....congratulations! i must say....i am not one bit suprised that you have moved to an administrative position in the industry. you are a very resourceful, hard working and knowledgable diamond guru who has so much to offer in every facet (no really!) of the industry. you are an asset not only to your peers but to consumers as well. knowing that you will be back and we will still have you around as the same guy makes this more of a celebration (insert dancing happy face here!) than the alternative and very sad possibilty of a forever ''good bye''.

i have learned so much from you over the years and i look forward to many more. congrats again on this new opportunity and i look forward to seeing you again soon!

of course, congrats and welcome anew to al! john definitely left some big shoes to fill but i can''t think of a better person to take his place. i look forward to al''s contributions and wish her the very best of luck in her new position.

soo....can i have the chainsaw?

John
Wishing you all the best in your new position, I know you will be a great asset to the new Company. I will miss your posts during your training period, but so relieved that you will be back here in the future.

Alj, Now Allison D you do have big shoes to fill. But you have the knowledge and expertise, so I know you will do a great job. Congrats to you!!!

Alj, many MANY congratulations to you on your new position, I know you will do an excellent job!

John, congratulations to you on your new job! I will miss you very much on the boards, but take comfort in knowing you will be back in the future.

To two very special people; I wish you both the best of luck in your new endeavours!!

Urggg, I wrote out a long post and it didn''t go through!

John, congratulations on your new opportunity!! I''m sure you will be missed but it is good news for us that you will continue to post on PS. ALJ [Allison...that will take some getting used to!] congratulations on your new position at Whiteflash! I''m sure you will do a great job.

Congratulations to both you and Allison D! I have come to know you as an incredible friend and professional and I am excited both for you and for the company that you are going to work for.

Having spoken a few times with Allison and having long respected her posting style I am also excited for her and believe that WhiteFlash has done an excellent job in finding your replacement.

It is good to see people grow and succeed. Some are surprises, others, like yourself, just seemed preordained to do great things. It is always wonderful to see it actually happen.

Wink

Congrats to Both Alj and John!!!

Best wishes John! Thank you so much for your help to my fiance and I when we were on the hunt for our center stone and then when we had my engagement setting made. I wish you all the best in future endeavors.

Sincerely,

Zoe

WOW! I’m just overwhelmed at such support…..not that I expected anything different from PSers!

I was quite surprised and flattered when Whiteflash approached me to discuss a position as their Consumer Relations ambassador.

When I first came to Pricescope, there weren’t many regular consumer posters, and we all helped each other learn. Today, Pricescope is tremendously robust with many core posters, which makes it easier for me to move into a different role.

Part of what’s always appealed to me about Pricescope is that it gives consumers a voice. Because I’ve been a consumer for so long, I think this opportunity gives me a way to strengthen that voice from a different angle, promote things I know are important to consumers, and it provides me with a fresh way to add value here.

I’ve been posting for more than five years now and I’ve really come to cherish this community. The most important thing is this: I’m *still* me. I’m the same person I’ve always been, and I look forward to continuing the many relationships I’ve built here with you. Those relationships are truly important to me.

I want to make this transition in a way that is completely respectful of Pricescope policies, and I want it to be as transparent as possible. To avoid confusion, I’ll no longer post as “aljdewey.” As a female on the internet I worry about security issues, especially since I am working remotely, so my public ID for Whiteflash will be Allison Dewey, and I’ll now post as Allison D.

So many of you are used to calling me Al and Alj, and I’ve grown fond of it, and this makes the transition clear I think: I want people to know that it’s still me; just in a different role. So please, do keep calling me Al/Alj so I feel at home….and so I know you’re talking to me!

It also means…… *sob*….I’m going to have to retire the chainsaw!!!!!!!!!!!!
39.gif
39.gif
39.gif
I was going to gift it to Mara, but it’s not chic enough…..unless she put a B-bag logo on it!
11.gif
I’ll be happy to loan it out on a rotating schedule, though, for interested parties. Since Mara's out of town for a few days and may not see this for a bit, I'll consider Belle as first dibs! GO FOR IT, Belle! I know it's in good hands with you!
27.gif

Other than parting with my beloved chainsaw, I’m happy for this new role and hope for your support. Without the long-timers and fresh faces to keep things interesting I would not be the hard core fan of Pricescope I am today.

Thanks for letting us know that it is still ok to call you Alj, I always have and would miss not being able to do so! I truly am delighted for you!!!

What great news for both of you!!! Congrats, John and Alj!!!

Dearest

John,

Since I knew you when you were a consumer known as Cupid teaching music to...middle schoolers wasn't it?...I think I can adjust to your moving on to yet another job. As long as you do not leave Pricescope! Your being "John P" or "John Pollard" is fine with me! Just stick around and be yourself because you are absolutely indispensable, thoroughly knowledgeable and so kindhearted and just good! You were my entry point to Whiteflash. When I wanted to buy a bellerina pendant from them, I e-mailed you!!!

Al, congratulations on your new position. You will be wonderful in it. Everyone who knows you from Pricescope can have no doubt about that. You are incredibly smart-alert to every angle-and you know everything there is to know about diamonds. Whiteflash is very lucky to have hired you. Best wishes on your new endeavor.

Seriously, belle said everything I would have, and prolly better. Congrats Alj and Jon!!

Wow some interesting changes! Congratulations and best wishes on your new careers to both John and Alj. You will both be assets to those fortunate enough to employ you and we look forward to your further participation on Pricescope in your new roles.

Gypsy, Lorelei, Belle, Catmom, Kaleigh, Wink, Skippy, and Zoe.....

Thanks so much for jumping in with good wishes! Your support means a ton to me.

Belle, I''d LOVE to have you take over the chainsaw for a while. Truth be told, that was the hardest part for me. Of course, no one asked me to do it.....but a while back, Ellen mentioned that when she didn''t know me, she wondered if I''d saw her in half! LOL It just didn''t seem prudent right away to port it over with me.

Maybe at some point down the line, I can get one of you to do a little photoshopping for me and make my chainsaw appear to be cutting the pavilion facet of the 7.5 carat ACA I used for my avatar! LOL It might be a little less ominous then!
11.gif

Belle and Kaleigh - you''re absolutely right.....John has been SUCH an enormous presence here that I really feel his shoes would be impossible to fill....so I''m not going to try. I''m going to just bring my own humble shoes and hope they serve me well. I''m sure he''ll be back when he can, so he''ll still be that great technical resource for us all.

Lorelei.....it will be an HONOR to still be called Alj.

We'll see.

Meanwhile, I'm contemplating my own new identity...

I congratulated JohnQ on his new future role already!!!

Now I want to congratulate you Alj on you new path..., good for and you and I totally agree with you..., "be yourself and wear you own shoes..."
1.gif

In regards to the chainsaw appearing cutting the pavilion on the 7.5 ct. ACA..., it might be a problem with the smooth Ex polish...
31.gif
,
you know what I mean...
12.gif

But it could work nicely with the crystal octahedron rough used to cut the ACA...
20.gif

Anyways..., good luck Allison D.

John, I still adore you no matter where you work and what you call yourself. I''m relieved that your hiatus will be temporary. Best wishes as you chart new waters.
