Yesterday I saw the yellow gold Tiffany Etoile bangle, in person, for the first time. I really liked it and made the mistake of trying it on. It is delicate, yet has a good weight and is beautiful! Today, on Whiteflash, I saw their Scattered Diamond bangle, which looks quite similar.

Here are links to both ...

Tiffany Etoile -- $2,450, 2.2 ctw (I think)

Whiteflash Scattered Bangle - $995, 0.20 ctw ACA''s

I realize that there is a huge discrepancy in total carat weight, however, they both look so similar in the pics that I''m hard pressed to "see" the difference.... They must look or feel entirely different in person considering one appears to be a whole 2 carats heavier than the other.

I''m looking for opinions on both ... Which one would you choose and why?

or ... if you have the WF scattered bangle, what do you think? Dos it compare to Tiffany''s?

I would appreciate any/all thoughts. Thank you!

Hi Sparkalicious

On the tiffany link you provided, I clicked on specs and it said tcw .22. Is the one you tried on that one, or a two carat version of that bangle?

I totally

it btw!!!!

Thank you!!! You are the best ... I think I've been staring at the computer too long!

THAT makes much more sense now!!!! I don't know how I didn't but .... I didn't see how they would fit 2.2 carats worth of diamonds on that bangle.
Smartypants ... just because you can read and stuff.

Just teasing.

I'm glad you like it! Do you like the WF one as well?

Considering that the carat weight is just about the same ... it really makes it difficult to justify the Tiffany one. Any initial thoughts from seeing both ... why one would edge the other out?

I love the tiffany, not really sold on the clasp on the WF one, it looks like it sticks out a bit. Plus tiff is 18K, which I think is worth it in yg. Why don''t you buy both
31.gif
and take some pics (for reference of course, not for us)!

I''m sure the WF one is gorgeous, might be worth the savings?! Maybe buy it and go to tiffs to compare?

Hmmm ... let me check out that clasp again. I do recall, when I tried on the Tiffany one that the clasp was so smooth and sturdy ... it was almost like a puzzle piece fitting exactly as it should into another ... I would hope that the WF would as well, however, the one at Tiffs appeared/felt really smooth so it would be less likely to catch on things ...

I''m off to check out both pics again. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!!

Anyone else have any feedback or thoughts on either or both of these bangles?

I''m considering purchasing one and don''t know if the huge price differential is the answer to which one I should get or if there is tangible reason as to why I should get one over the other, excluding price.

I would really appreciate any more help.

I would go with the WF one...I just cannot justify spending $1455 more for the Tiffany one when they look almost identical! I see that the Tiffany one is 18K and Plat, but that is a hefty price difference.

Ditto! If you want 18k, I imagine WF could do it for you and it would probably still be way cheaper than the Tiffany one.

I agree I dont thinks its looks that much different for $1455, even though I do like the clasp on the Tiffany more and it looks more sleek....but not for the difference to me.

Say it a''int so ... Is it really just the "blue box" effect that accounts for the huge price difference?
I knew I was likely grasping at straws but I thought that there must be something obviously different b/n the two.

Does anyone own either of the two?

If you don''t own one but were considering it ... have you seen any others that you like?

And thritto!

Is the Tiffany bangle handmade? that might be a visible difference if you were comparing the two side by side. I''ve never seen the WF bangle so I can''t comment on whether or not the quality would be equal. I do know there are a few gals who have the WF etoile ring repro and are happy with the outcome. So, if it''s just the general look you are going for, save the $ and get the WF version. I''m one of the few here that actually likes Tiffany and for some items would even pay the premium for the blue box.

Things are not looking good for the Tiffany bracelet.

Thanks Lorelei! I appreciate the response.

I much prefer the clasp on the Tiffany one, but that is a hefty price difference. I''m a stickler for detail though so I''d probably pay the extra as clasps are one thing that bother me if I don''t like them. If the clasp doesn''t bother you that much, then I''d go with the WF one.

The clasp on the Tiffany design is much more attractive, however, the price is not. I guess it basically comes down to how much have you budgeted and can you easily afford the Tiff one? Would WF have to make an entirely custom bracelet so the clasp would be smooth and if so, how much would that be OR can they just change out the clasp?

MrsS - Thanks so much for the response!!!
Handmade? I''m not sure. Good question. Hmm .. I''ll have to check it out.
The only visible difference that I think I may have noticed, other than the clasp, is that the Tiffany bracelet appears to be solid. The WF one appears to be "hollowed" out (can''t think if a better description) on the inside. I really like the solid look & feel to the hollowed out one. Do you see what I am referring to?

Although my preference would be for the Tiffany one for the 2 reasons mentioned above, I really do like the look and WF version would allow me to save some pennies towards something else sparkly for me. I was thinking that maybe I could have one custom made that would give me the elements that I like in both bracelets for a more reasonable price? Any thoughts on that?

Arggh. I''m still undecided. Why is it so easy to assist others with making decisions but it is just not the same when you are trying to make your own??

Hi Spark,

Love the bangle! Ok, I like the Tiffany more ONLY because the WF one seems to have a swirl or wave in the gold pattern..does anyone else see it or is it just me? Looks like it goes from brushed gold and then gets shiny? Mabye my eyes are going bad!

If you don''t care about the "blue box" effect, go with the WF.

Both are beautiful regardless! I see you really did some trying on at Tiffanys that day!

I know it''s terrible b/c I really, really loved the way the Tiffany one fit and how it felt AND it''s the first one I tried one, thus, it will always have an edge on the WF one but I really don''t want to throw money away.

I didn''t notice what you mentioned before, however, I''m off to check it out again to see if I notice it.

I''m really trying to build an argument to myself as to why it is completely unreasonable to go with the Tiffany one.

I know what you are saying ... an annoying clasp is the worst. When the SA slipped the bracelet on me, it felt so smooth as it just "clicked" into the clasp nicely. I loved that. From the looks of the clasp on the WF one, I don''t think that the same would be true.

Decisions, decisions.

MC - I really like your custom bracelet suggestion. Sounds like the perfect compromise!

Thanks for trying to help me out!

Maybe you should find out the weight, in grams, of these two bracelets so you can better compare the price. If the Tiffany is solid and the WF is hollow, that could account for the substantial price difference, especially in view of the gold percentages (18K vs 14K).

Beacon - That is a fantastic idea! Maybe I am not comparing apples to apples, so to speak. Solid gold would most certainly account for the price difference, wouldn''t it?!

Hmmm ... maybe I''ll have to schedule another trip to Tiffany''s to find out.

If one is solid, I would go with it. I''ve got a couple of hollow bangles which get dented if I look at them crosseyed. Would definitely be worth the extra money to me to have a solid bracelet with a nicer clasp.

Addlepated -- Thank you kindly for your response! I appreciate it.

I see what you are saying. That would drive me nuts as well. Since I would consider this a "forever" piece, it may well be worth the difference ....

I am still so undecided. I would prefer to have the "real" thing, however, am not sure if my budget is up to it right now. I wish WF was around the corner so that I could go and check it out and compare the two and then make my decision.

If this is a "forever piece", I''d probably go with the original, especially if it is solid.

I agree with that the Tiffany clasp is much better, and may buy the Tiffany one for that primary reason.

Thanks Bee* .. unfortunately for my budget, that seems to be the way I am leaning right now. Who knows ... I may change my mind again.

Thanks for the input ... It just makes sense, right?

Sparkalicious, your mileage may of course vary but for me, I quit wearing those hollow gold bracelets entirely and am sorta turned off by bangles in general now because I just have this impression of them being more susceptible than flexible bracelets.

That sounds more dramatic than I mean to.
