Western Europe here. Upgrading a gift is something I simply can’t understand. “Hey, what you gave was great!!! .... but not great enough. I’ll get something bigger and better if you don’t mind. I know you asked me to be you wife with this gift. You put thought and your heart into it! But I want more!!” Sorry but that’s what I hear in my head when I read about upgrades... I don’t mind some more bling with time but I have another hand and two ears and wrist and a neck which I can decorate with gorgeous shiny things.
Anyways. I have a forever set I love beyond everything. I can’t wear the band for another 56 days but I have a picture.
I think this poster is gone but this is one of the more judgmental statements I’ve read in a while. Really wrong forum to post this. :lol-2:

I just checked and I’ve had my current stone over three years... Which is a fair trot longer than any of the prior attempts at “forever” lasted :cool2:

Oh, and I upgraded three times before my wedding. Just because I wanted a bigger stone - and I (we) could. My moral fortitude, humbleness, graciousness, and humility must be the stuff of nightmares for some :mrgreen2:

im learning the ropes here
i make no judgement on different cultural practices but i do like to observe
i admire American's greatly
they are friendly and helpful and work really hard
i like to think we are just like them
then Bam !
something pops out of left field like the bridesmaids and the brides go down the isle in the wrong order !!:twirl:
i also think one should always be awear of one's own motivations for choosing to be part of an international online community
personally im here for escapism in the form of bling :kiss2: and also positive interaction and friendship
and i must say i have been very impressed how polite and respectful and friendly this place is
im a firm beleaver in you get out what you.put in
i hope this wasn't an inappropriate thing to say as i tend.to wear my heart on my sleeve

and kind of getting back on topic i do have a friend from New Jersey who had to get a new ER due to terrible painful arthritis
i must remember to.ask her what she did with her original diamond

What was so tone deaf about it to me was that the poster has what looks like a top-notch, very large ring! Like, how insulting to everyone who didn't get their dream ring and craves a change. It would still be judgmental as phrased but would make more sense to me to hear this from someone with a dainty ring who wouldn't change their wedding set out of sentimentality.

Furthermore, at the time when she posted her comments, she wasn't even married yet. So my thoughts were "hhmmm....she's new, she'll learn..." lol... Being engaged isn't the same as being married.
