Who are the top democratic presidential candidates for 2020?

Ahhhh. Phew. Back to my norm of disagreeing with you.
She may be many things - but stupid is certainly not one of them.
So you believe her that the world is gonna end in 12 yrs?

The moment she opens her mouth

the more stupid she sound.

Oh the rich delicious irony!!:lol::lol:

Joe Biden or Trump wins again

Well, FREE college and MANDATORY Healthcare insurance have been working brilliantly for most of Europe for a long time now

Just something to think about from time to time

Sweden being one of the countries! The state actually gives you a monthly allowance of 300usd, if you attend university. And we also have 390 days 80% paid parental leave that can be shared between both parents, for every child that you have...And we have 80% paid sick leave for both yourself or if you have to stay home with your sick child. My point is there IS money, if you want there to be (thinking about @Dancing Fire comment). It’s all about priorities. On the other hand I pay 30% tax, and my husband pays about 42%. Sorry for derailing the thread, couldn’t help myself.

Really?? Where??. FYI, Americans are already $21 trillion in debt.

I’m obviously no politician and we have two very different systems, and I’m not going to act like I comprehend the complexity of it....but to answer your question; the last sentence in my post could be a hint as to where the money is . Minimum income tax here is 33%, but can go all the way up to 60%, depending on how much you earn. So that’s probably where the money is.

So after the government robs all the billionaires and millionaires guess who will be next? don't you love socialism?

I'm bowing out after this (kid and DH need me) , but you actually GET a lot for the taxes you pay. Dh is in the highest income tax bracket (France, Germany ) , but for free education and excellent healthcare, pension for everyone, insurance against unemployment, high protection for workers, excellent protection for mothers and children etc, we are actually OK with it. And yes, we're putting our money where our mouths are. Could have gone and taken our multiple university degrees (acquired for free) to the US, where headhunters offer higher paying jobs for DH regularly. We didn't and won't. We love the US, but prefer a mindset where the general consensus is that the strongest individuals have an obligation towards the more vulnerable. Where we think that the general climate created by a generally educated, healthy population benefits all and that everyone is supposed to work towards his own life goals but also towards furthering the whole society. We are truly heartbroken to see old people without medical coverage or living in trailer parks. Of course there are homeless people here, too. But everyone can and will get free treatment. Everyone can and will get housing and benefits if they are in distress. I pay for that and it's what I believe in. Many of the most educated, brilliant people and the biggest philanthropists are in the US. Generally people are willing to donate for others. To me more so than in old Europe. I admire this deeply. But this doesn't substitute everyone's RIGHT as a citizen to live a decent life without fear not to be able to pay for necessary medical care. To education limited by your intellect or desire, not your bank account . This is IMHO one of the core differences regarding the outlook for our society as a whole. But as I've said time and time again: more money spent on boring safety nets for everyone = less disposable income for BLING, smaller houses and cars.. . C'est la vie
Maybe @Viola will chime in again :wavey:

Happy Valentine PSers !

The first Dem. to offer a FREE 2ct diamond will get my vote.

For me, it's going to be between Klobuchar, Brown or Biden. I realize two of those have not announced yet, but I'm an eternal optimist.

If I am guessing who wins, it will be Beto O’Rourke.

I want Biden to win.

Beto is in but he will not be nominated.

Bill Weld is running against your boy, DF.

If the economy remains strong it doesn't matter who will run against Trump. Trump will win easily.

I liked Pete Buttigieg when I saw him on Colbert months ago and I'm pleased that he is garnering serious attention.

You know who.does have the chance to win, if she only cares to run?

Michelle Obama.

With the rest, I am not so sure. I like Liz Warren but she has zero chance.

HI,

I'm going to throw my vote in the ring. I like Kamela Harris. I don't want 80 yr old white men. We have enough of those in Congress, who ought to retire and make way for new ideas. I watched her question people who testify at hearings and I liked her style. I think a woman of color has a better chance than a man of color at this point in time.

I agree. I like her a lot, but feel like she's gone a bit flat since announcing - hope she can get some buoyancy back. I really like Pete Buttigieg - I thought he was great, a breath of fresh air and energy, when he ran for DNC Chair. I was really disappointed they went with Perez and not him, so I'm glad to see him back out there. My initial reaction was that he was too young and inexperienced, but I think he's doing a great job so far, hope he can keep it going. I was also disappointed Sherrod Brown decided not to step in.

I’m really liking Pete Buttigieg. I’m originally from South Bend where he was mayor and had the pleasure of meeting him at a few volunteer activities when I was in college. He is an extremely warm, genuine guy. That might also be his Achilles heel, he’s too nice and composed. I can’t see him doing well in a debate with Trump especially with Trump’s name calling and lies.

Joe Biden. He is supposed to announce Thursday.

I am changing this. Beto seems largely unprepared.

I didn’t appreciate the way Biden handled his inappropriate touching issue. It would have been one thing if he would have sincerely apologized but instead, he cracked jokes. As someone who has (supposedly) championed for women on this issue, he should know that an apology goes a long way.

Now it’s time to take this quiz and see where I land. https://www.isidewith.com/

Interesting test. Thanks @House Cat!

LOL it says my top pick is Kasich with Trump second, Gary Johnson third. And my party is the Constitution Party with Libertarian second (only 1% difference between CP and L) and GOP third. Sounds about right for me.
