"I have a few hanging around the upstairs landing..I just recently bought a huge spool frame mirror for on top of my fireplace in Habitat for Humanity. It was so heavy my husband had trouble lifting it onto the mantel. We just leaned it because I don’t think any hardware would hold it up! It was $25!"

@Mamabean what beautiful mirrors you have! If I had to pick a favorite it would be the one with haindpainted flowers in a basket, so colorful! They are all wonderful though.

Thank you..They are really prettier in person. I didn’t take a pic of my favorite. It a small mirror and so sweet. I’ll take a pic of that one when it’s sunny.

Today started off really great and ended with bad news For now I'll share the good happy stuff.

Today I happened upon this amazing gold band which is wider than I would normally like but look at the carved flowers on the sides and the milgrain! OMG and in such great condition it is engraved on the inside with a date of 4/22/50.

A watch chain, gold filled maybe? Haven't had a chance to really examine but pretty links anyways.

The hair comb is rhinestones and faux pearls made by Fenaroli Boston.

Mickey Mouse 75th anniversary watch and a Sylvester and Tweety watch that plays the Warner Bros. theme.

Then the pin, it is a 14k spider pin with diamond eyes and pink tourmaline and opal made by Ballou, freakin amazing.

Glad I beat the gold scrap guy to these gold pieces, she also had a pair of turquoise and seed pearl earrings...so pretty.

The band is really interesting. I haven't seen one like that before.

@stracci2000 you know it...good old Cheers. Today she served meatloaf and bean chips for lunch, I had the kids with me so they were happy eating away.

Yeah I couldn't leave the band although it is a little thick for me but eh it's cool anyways. She had other gold pieces too, an emerald ring, a ruby ring some silver T&Co but they didn't really do anything for me. I'm just glad I beat the scrap guy who came in an hour after me as did another regular who bought the Tiffany silver. It's always interesting to see the people that walk in

Haha, $2.00! There is a faint 925 mark on it.
I just got lucky, I guess.
DH and I went to two estate sales today and didn't find anything, so we went back to our thrift store. That place rocks!
But I am starting to see some other dealers there, so I worry about getting to the good stuff first. Still haven't found any diamonds there, but I'm still lookin!

DH is a photographer, so anything camera-ish is up his alley.
So he is always looking for vintage cameras or other photo equipment. He also loves to read, and is always looking for books.
I am the collector in our house! All the best things stay here, like the sterling bowl, and the others go to the antique booth.

You know you could have an Etsy shop, you already have the photographer! I do pretty well at not holding on to things I find except the diamonds, those are hard to let go of!

DH used to photograph for a lady who had an Etsy shop.
She would haul all her stuff over here and stay for hours while it was all photographed. It was fun to see all her goodies! She had jewelry, purses, and lots of high end accessories. Her parents were wealthy people and she had inherited lots of jewelry.

And not a pawn shop/estate/garage sale/thriftstore find this time but I found this little stunner on ebay.

The seller was this military looking man and he was selling this in a sea of vintage postcards.


I purchased it for $130 and it came with an appraisal by a jeweler long ago with a very high color and clarity. He had it as "OEC" but doesnt look it at all to me. Its set in a 14k white and yellow gold vintage ring.

I still love it none the less for the wrong characterization. Its about 4.3 mm but the high color and clarity make it seem much larger!
Ive always wanted an oxidized SS ring with a nice lil diamond so I plan on taking this out and saving the setting to melt down later.

Very excited for this project! The oxidized silver and the sparkly white diamond....what my dreams are made of!

Also for some reason im great at photographing colored stones but since im such a diamond newbie im awful at it and all of my diamonds arent given a fair chance! Haha

I'll have to post the finished ring later!

Yay! Don't you just love Ebay? I don't think I could purchase brand new jewelry ever again. I love pre-loved.
There is something for everyone, and the best prices. Much better than the pawn shops.
It's a gorgeous ring! After you have the new ring made, you can slip a pretty colored stone in there (yellow sapphire, or aqua?), and it will look great!
I have two vintage rings on the way from Ebay right now, and I will be sure to share, when I get them.
