@CHRISTY-DANIELLE, love your new find and I knew that Stracci would be along to admire it since she has quite the collection herself
Congrats on your job! I hope you spend it at some thrift stores at least to keep this thread going. I love seeing your latest finds.
When I was about 8yo a friend of mine and I used to go door to door in the neighborhood asking if they had any ‘junk’. We would come home with loads of costume jewelry, key chains, and other trinkets. One old lady named “Mrs. Fairy” (really!) used to invite us in for cookies and would always find something we could take home. Good memories of collecting ‘junk’ back when it was safe for little girls to do such a thing!
I love this story!
I love Wedgwood Jasperware! I have quite a few of the trinket boxes and small dishes. Nice find!
Honestly, I just liked the color and the shape but thought " Is that wedgwood blue? " flipped it over and saw that it was Wedgwood. Ok, Sold. It's my first, but can see how one would start collecting them. Jasperware? I'll have to research. No clue
Cliffhanger:
I bought a grail item today! Will share in a bit.
Anyone else have finds jewelry or otherwise?
@stracci2000, that's a quick dress?? Can you whip up a quick dress for me?
What a find that chain is! Love the detail on the links and I also adore Midge...seriously $2 how can you go wrong?
@stracci2000 How creative you are to whip up a dress! It's really cute!
@StephanieLynn , my Mom had one of those ceramic trees, too! It looks so beautiful at night!
And the pretty clear and blue necklace is old, maybe 1940s?
Does it say Antoinette?
@StephanieLynn Peaceful.
Oh you guys my be disappointed because it's not some crazy three carat OEC that I bought for $500 lol!
This morning I told DH that I was thinking of setting up the Christmas tree to bring some joy into the current climate, of course he thought I was crazy. Well then we found this vintage ceramic Christmas tree! I have always wanted an Italian Christmas tree and this one has little red cardinals and holly for some of the lights and it works! Yay!
I also bought a few fun things, the shamrock because it's almost our anniversary (two more days!). The blue and white pendant is gold filled and so is the necklace and the guy gave it to me. He needed a bottle of rubbing alcohol but you can't find it here, I happen to have an extra bottle so he gave the jewelry for free!
I thought the necklace went nicely with my dinosaur shirt..."did you eat the last unicorn?"
A few weekends ago, I was in Missouri for a good friends wedding. No surprise, there isn't much to do there. But there were many antique shops! I dragged my husband to no less than 7 different shops. The downside though is that none of them really had any antique jewelry (one specialized in vintage costume jewelry) and surprisingly, many shops were closed on "Antique Row" on a Sunday afternoon. I walked away with only two things.
Found this cute cow tin for a few bucks in Jefferson City.
This one is actually from an Antique store from Seattle, on our way back. Vintage dachshund puppy.
Some photos from shops I visited:
This one was like a museum!
Love that @stracci2000! The hands on that watch are very sexy!
Oh can I jump into this thread? I’m going through thrift store withdrawal. I don’t have great stores where I am but hit up others when I travel....I have no idea how soon I’ll be able to get out again.
