Who wants to see my haul from today?

Yes, that diamond is pretty cute, huh?
I'm always a little worried when I cut into a band like that. I always second guess myself, like "Am I doing the right thing, altering an antique ring this way?"
But now I can wear it and love it.
PS, I'm glad your power is back!!

Well it came out great, what good is a ring you can't wear?! I'm still amazed you can size your own rings, I would save so much money doing it myself!

So glad the power is back! DH is working lots of overtime so I bought myself some new pants since mine had holes. Of course the money I spent buying my heart ring could have gone to pants but you know.....priorities!

It's a lot of fun, repairing my own rings. But I don't work on other people's jewelry anymore. Too stressful!

Who cares about pants? It's diamonds you need, sister!

@stracci2000 it's definitely a challenge to let things go sometimes. So far the only things I've kept are a gold filled watch chain (to wear my pink sapphire brooch/pendant on) and a gold filled signet ring with my DH and DS first initial. However I've only been in the game since January and despite my best efforts at being a vintage jewelry store my biggest seller is Strawberry Shortcake, the original 80's ones.

I bet you have a great collection of things, if only we lived closer together, how fun it would be to have coffee and share all our finds and collections.

This post actually made me laugh!
lol I'm 2 years 2 late to reply. But I love Strawberry Shortcake as much as I love jewlery!

I love days when I get mail and it isn't junk mail :lol-2:

20 point OEC in the middle, there are single cuts in some of the hearts and crosses in the others, not usually a huge cross person but they aren't in your face. Guess I have a little heart ring collection now :D

Wow, nice! Yada, you do find the nice ones.
Now you have a pair!
Hand shot, please!

Oh wow...I thought I was seeing things, lol. Nice find!

@stracci2000, just for you even though I loathe my chubb chubb fingers.

So, I'm wearing this ring on my right hand, I like having a ring on each hand, but I know you are the diamond on every hand queen ;)2

Thanks for the special hand shot!
It's so pretty! It really resembles your other ring. I like this style a lot.
I love to see all your cool finds.
You have a way of honing in on the most unique vintage jewels:kiss2:

@stracci2000 thanks girlfriend although I have to say that I am amazed by the things you find at estate sales, so much good stuff!

This ring was an IG find, you're not on IG right? It's a whole other world of treasure and that can be dangerous for the wallet!

No, I am not on IG.
I lurk there occasionally, but as others have said, I don't like the way prices aren't offered freely.
I like to know what the seller is asking without reaching out for the info.

And also the fact that I'm an old lady who doesn't want to learn new tricks!

@stracci2000, you are not old, you look good for your age, young spirit and good sense of humor, everything you need to stay young.

You are better off without IG, and yes the "DM for price" is a jewelrygasm killer for me. Like I see that and roll over and go to sleep :lol-2:

At a little out of the way thift store, I grabbed a bag of mixed jewelry.
I thought I could see some good stuff in there, so I gambled and paid $5.00 for it.

Sure enough, gold!
IMG_20200821_151516.jpg
The handful of earrings is all 14k.
But the chain........15.64 grams of 18k!
27 inches long.
The clasp needs replacing, but I can handle that! Of course I acid tested all of it to be sure.
This might be my best find to date.

No way you would ever score that in a Canadian thrift store. They go thru jewellery with a sieve :(

This young guy was just pricing these bags of jewelry while
I was standing there looking in the jewelry case. There were about 4 bags, and I picked one that looked hopeful. I got lucky by being the first customer to see them.
Plus, non-jewelry people don't know what 750 means.

Great finds again!
It’s killing me...I need a gold chain and I’m cringing at the prices right now. $5 would be fine though if I could find one, lol.

Yes, it's hard to believe how much chains cost. And now that gold is through the roof, prices are even worse.

Here is a nice lapis strand from the Goodwill, $4.99.
A while ago I was lusting over lapis, and now it keeps turning up!

@YadaYadaYada, serously, you find the best things...I absolutely love this ring. And what a great complement to your other ring!

Thank you @junebug17, I just buy what I love, if my wallet had more love for me I'd have even more :lol-2:

@stracci2000, you've done it again my friend, how do you find free gold like this?? Yes I know you paid $5 but to me that is free, amazing. I know you are saving it all for the next pawn shop upgrade!

Well, I did the math and if I turn it all in today, I will walk out the door with over $800. Do you have any rings for sale?:lol::lol:

Yeah, same here, although I think our version of a thrift store is a charity shop. Some of the bigger charity shops now have their own Ebay stores. @stracci2000 that's an impressive return in investment, well done :)

@stracci2000, nothing over the size you already have, seriously aren't you out of fingers yet?

Wow! To find gold how you did is unheard of. I need some of that magic!

You just have to go into enough junky thrift stores with the right frequency, I guess!
There were other treasures that day too, like Minton china and a few pieces of Red Wing and McCoy art pottery, and an old crock. I love this place cause they don't research anything! I actually spent $33.00 total.
