Mat, Ann Taylor has some ADORABLE dresses in the ''Celebrations'' section. They''re a bit pricey, but I saw so many I liked.

I love this one!

I think so too! I was acutally thinking of that dress if I do a destination wedding.
94$ Fun and Funky!

Sunny and Rewearable! 148$

Or In Two Tone Blue (I love it) 148$

I also felt like you did - I didn''t want my girls to pay too much.. and I ended up finding dresses on super duper discount at Nordstrom Rack - so that''s a place to look if you don''t have that many girls...

Or I highly recommend going thru RK Bridal or some other discount online order service to reduce the cost - you can save a huge amount if you decide on a dress from one of the standard bm dress companies...

I am loving some of the ideas that the other gals posted though!! I love that yellow maggy london! hm...

Good luck and keep us posted!!!

I am blown away! I cannot get over how amazing you all are! So many choices!
I really cannot tell you how grateful I am!

Before I came to you all for help, I was really interested in the Ann Taylor dresses,
but I''m not sure about my girls in strapless dresses.
My wedding dress is strapless, and I''m already planning my strapless bating suit, so I don''t have
wicked tan lines! I don''t know if I can saddle them with that too.
But I LOVE Them!
Also, we are all in our mid to late thirties, while I like wearing little flowy dresses,
I don''t think they would be as comfortable.

I''m love the Dillards dresses and the Anthropologie dress!

Honestly, I love them all.

I LOVE this JCrew dress, and think they would all look lovely in it (in sky blue.)
Again, it''s the price issue.

You are all really the best! Thanks for giving me so many ideas

mat: i love that guess dress. it's so cute!

sadly, now that my student loans are kicking in i'm on something of a "prohibited from buying cute dresses" phase in my life -- so, i'm trying to resist the urge...

also -- that "sunny and rewearble" yellow dress from nordstrom's definately just made it into my consideration group of BM dresses. this is a great little thread!!!

ebree: you've got some fine taste!

tybee: i love the dress from jcrew that you want. my mom actually owns that one, but from last year in a lovely green color. it's the kind of dress that suits a 25 year old or a 55 year old. very classic, elegant, flattering and i love the cross-over strap detail. my mom was able to pick it up during a clearance sale, but i think it was still approx $125. maybe you can wait it out a bit and see if it goes on sale in a few months. otherwise, is there any way that you might possibly subsidize part of the price, to make it more affordable. i'm sorry if you've gone over this, i admit that i can't always remember everything from all of these postings. i was thinking of maybe doing that -- i can't pay for all the dresses myself, but i was thinking if there was one that i feel in love with i could help with part. i guess it depends on any wiggle room in your budget and how many BMs you're having.

You'll find something!!!

I'm finding TOO MUCH in this thread

Hey - just another thought, that sometimes the J.Crew dresses, especially the more popular styles and colors can be found on eBay or other places. You could also try a J.Crew outlet store - I have a gorgeous purple silk dress that would make a perfect beach BM dress that I got there in college for like $30.

I think BM dresses are silly. I''m having mine wear a black cocktail dress...only requirements are solid black and knee length. Then I''m giving them a colored wrap to wear with it. This way they can wear something they have or buy a new dress and know they will like it and wear it again.

appletini: i think that your approach is a great one. my friend who got married last may did the same thing and it looked beautiful -- however, black might be a little too severe for a tropical beach or garden wedding

what color is your wrap going to be -- that is a nice BM present already.

Honestly,
I''m leaning towards black!
I love the idea of checking out the JCrew outlet. It''s a very dangerous place for a woman of my tastes! If I could find a 30.00 dress, I''d just go ahead and buy them! I''m only having 4 bridesmaids, I surely wouldn''t be so lucky to find such a find, but... what the heck, and excuse to go shopping!

I'm going to get a light spring green for the BMs and pink for the house party, since they are all wearing the same thing. Plus they love the idea, or at least thats what they tell me. Several have already bought new black dresses. Its an evening wedding, but is spring, so I wanted to bring in some color, but still have the elegance.

apple: that sounds gorgeous!
