Why so little price difference between these two?

Unless the answer lies here, but I can't distinguish between them... I get the basics of the pictures, are these likely to perform very similar or is one better than the other?

My guess is that they'll be indistinguishable to the naked eye at normal viewing distances.

Price similarities could be nothing more than a function of the price of the parcels these diamonds were purchased in.

They are most probably from different suppliers and some charge less while others charge more.

In this carat size, a couple of grades higher does not cost a lot.

Hm interesting replies thanks. I am not sure if it is worth the little extra for the G or not, clarity improvement is pointless imo.

Normally, I would agree with you. For $120 I think I would go for the upgrade...unless budget is super tight.

I think the G is worth the extra cash even without worrying about the clarity therefore I agree, so if anyone can tell me if these stones are very close performance wise then that will help me finally decide ^_^. If anyone doesn't want to click the link, the G is the pic on the left above and the H on the right. I really don't know which is better out of the two lol, any help here :D?

I looked around some and you can get a G/SI1 AGS000 at other vendors for less $.

Does JA have the setting you are looking for? I really like JA but if your priority is higher color in a well cut stone for less $ you
can get that elsewhere.

I just want a 100% eye clean stone with awesome cut, F-H colour is what I was looking for but I wouldn't say no to an E/D (if it had everything else I want for a good price). I am not even getting a setting from JA so if you have any suggestions of other vendors I'd love to see them :). My ideal clarity range was VS1-SI2, just so long as eye-clean and prefer no feathers or if feather then not on the girdle. Btw, the cut on these I think are good enough, as for which is better I don't know - I am not obsessed with paying more for h&a, but if a stone has h&a I wouldn't exclude it - I mainly just want an AGS 0 cut that is a good 0 (e.g. not on a cutting cliff).

Thanks a lot for your help ^_^.

I'd go for the G VVS1 because $120 is nothing to go up 1 color grade and 2 clarity grades (even if you can't see it). Heck, I might pay $120 just to go up to G.

Cutwise, though the difference is so minimal, I prefer the H VS1--fatter arrows (which might actually make a difference in this size of diamond), and the slightly higher crown to give a bit more fire. But seriously, the diamonds are practically twins.

Thanks teobdl. Not sure of the significance of fatter arrows/the difference that could make - but I think I will go for the G :P.

Proportion wise I like the H but for $120 more you can own a G VVS1. I don't know the answer...

Touché. On second thought, I'd get the H unless you anticipate you'll be selling the diamond on your own in the future. Then get the G.

The price difference isn't important to me really it's such a small amount and it's for my partners engagement ring so not going to cheap out on $120. However, if the H is better cut that may be worthwhile. Obviously not thinking of reselling. One thing I've noticed that may or may not be significant is that on the report the H says the girdle is faceted and the G it doesn't say it is, whether that changes anything I don't know lol.

If it were $120 for just the H-G and everything else identical I would, the jump from vs1 to vvs1 is a bonus but if the cut is worse that complicates things lol.

Much appreciate anymore help on this, rather stuck!

They are both beautifully cut.

Re: fatter arrows-- To perceive a flash of light, there needs to be more than just a little pinpoint of light reflected into the eye. The fatter arrows will be slightly more likely to give off broader flashes, which will be more perceptible. Especially with this size of diamond, anything to make those flashes more perceivable to the eye will help. Coupled w/ a higher propensity to disperse the light into spectral colors (AKA fire) due to the higher crown, the proportions of the H diamond will make it marginally different than the G.

Once again, the G is beautifully cut, as well, and it's not like there will be a dearth of sparkle and fire in that one.

Great reply thank you :). Still undecided but that information was very useful.
