With more included stones don't worry about windows because the light won't go through anyway , little inclusions can bring out the color and make a window a good way of spreading colour.

Hello, all, Thank you for posting!

I'm in Japan, so due to the time difference, this is the first chance I've had to sit down and properly respond.

I know that Paraibas are getting rarer in the states...but I am in Japan. The gem dealer who has the two Paraibas (and more) is here, and I have been his customer for several years now. I know I have read several times, on PS and other places, that a lot of the Paraibas come to Japan. He is very well known here and to many gem dealers throughout Asia. He has lots of well-to-do and well-known regular customers here, including jewelry dealers - he is the go-to guy for large, rare stones. They come to buy as well as sell. He also sells at the Hong Kong show and has gone to the Tucson show many times before, though he didn't go this year because of back trouble. And he sells at wholesale prices, even to regular customers - he makes it on volume. I've been privileged to see all kinds of rare stones in amazing sizes at his shop. It's kind of like Gem Hunt in reverse - everyone comes to him! Lol. It's truly like a combination of a jewelry store and a museum.

He doesn't deal in any treated stones at all, heat is the most he accepts. All stones come with certs from one of several Japanese Gem Labs, depending on the stone - diamonds come from a lab that specializes in diamonds, and most others come from GRJ (Gem Research Japan), JGGL (Japan German Gemmological Lab), and sometimes GIA. JGGL has the ED XRF machine that PalaGems talks about in its education section about Paraibas, so the stones are tested fully and properly. Dr. Eduard Gubelin is an advisor emeritus of JGGL, too. And, and I said before different thread, if anything ever came back not as he had represented, he would give me a full refund. So I completely trust him.

Since I live here in Japan, so far it's been difficult for me to get AGL certificate with origin reports, which I intend to do one day, but until I can take them to AGL in person, it's too risky, too difficult and expensive to do it by mail. But I'm completely confident that I am getting the real deal, or obviously I wouldn't still be his customer. Nor would most of his other customers, LOL.

LD, he has been a Paraiba specialist since way back when, and has had lots of Paraibas, some very large, so him having a 4 carat one isn't suspicious at all. He bought tons of them back when people had hardly even heard of them.

TL, it may be slightly included, but it's much cleaner than the 32 carat one I have ( I know that one is heavily included.) (see previous thread )

Kenny, love your windowed FOP heart! Such a dreamy color.

mb, my avatar is also a Paraiba - it's a very clean, .44 carat batahla mine stone ring. The picture got all stretched weird when I used it as my avatar. I'm attaching a better picture below.

JewelFreak, please see above re lab reports, but it will have a full report with the ED XRF graph showing how much copper and manganese it has in it like in the above thread.

Precision Gem, thank you for the info on stones being susceptible to windowing.
It makes sense that the higher the RI the less apt to be windowed they would be.

LD, again, if I tell you the price, everyone will say red flag......it's a great deal, and that's why I'd be very forgiving of the window and inclusions! Lol. As I said, he sells at wholesale prices, every ring I've given the price on here has gotten that reaction.
I see ParaibaDealers has a 4 ct for like $40,000...maybe a little cleaner, hard to tell from the pictures. This one is less than a quarter of that price. Both the pendants (this one and the cleaner, lighter Moz) (both in platinum settings, with diamonds) are $8000 each. That's why I'm addicted to CS, Paraibas, and his store. Of course, if he gets more perfect ones in, the price goes up accordingly....and it goes out of my price range. So I do settle a little, for things I can afford. But this pendant is very attractive, and the color by far outweighs the flaws.

He also said that he would close the back for me if I want. I was thinking about that, to help with the windowing. In Japan it is illegal for jewelers to sell stones in settings with closed backs. The setting has to be open so the consumer can see the stone from both sides. Then after you buy it, if you want it closed, they are allowed to do that. This is Japan, the government is a bit picky about disclosure and customer protection. So I think that adds another layer of protection. I'll add a picture of the back too.

Ok, it's well past my bedtime, so I will sign off.
