Eek. LOL. What do you both think here? Is this a keeper or should I ask the team to pause sending and continue the search? Thanks.
For peace of mind, I would recommend that you tell them to hold off while you continue your search.
DiamondNewb2022, I highly recommend that you purchase an ASET scope if you aren't going with a vetted super ideal cut:

Any thoughts on this one, DejaWiz? I'm not totally sure what I'm seeing--maybe painting/digging.
1.70 Carat round diamond
This 1.7 carat round diamond F color vvs2 clarity has Excellent proportions and a diamond grading report from GIAwww.jamesallen.com
I would hold off as well if it were for me. It really depends on how close to "perfect" / super-ideal you want to be.

It would take a full sarin report with minors or an aset scope image to tell exactly whats going on.Karl_K, just for my understanding, is this a good stone?

Even gcal images would be useful.
That combo is not upper girdle facet variation tolerant and there is some alone with some variation in the lowers according to the IS image..
Good compared to a steep deep, yes all day.
Better cut stones out there? certainly.
Have a good long peek at this one...probably the cleanest SI1 most people will ever encounter. The optics are off the charts and will drop your jaw.

Hi FlyingPig, Kim, Karl_K, DejaWiz —
Thanks again for replying to this thread. If I could bug you all with another question —
After many, many hours of research — I think where I'm at is that I am OK with a bit of light leak but staying within ideal specs. I'm also a bit OCD, so I would prefer staying within VS1 clarity (even though I'm sure a VS2 or even lower would be more than fine).
I'd appreciate your thoughts (and preferences) between these two diamonds:
1. https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-di...lor-vvs2-clarity-true-hearts-cut-sku-15243340
Please note the linked GIA report off of the James Allen page is not accurate (I'm guessing it was recut) – new report is here: https://www.gia.edu/report-check?reportno=2436534716
2.) https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-di...olor-vs1-clarity-true-hearts-cut-sku-15910155
Diamond 1 is about $500 more.
Thanks again.

Thanks, DejaWiz. And no concerns about the feather/needle on the girdle of number 2? Not a structural concern?
Thank you both. Order is in. Now a break from diamonds for a few weeks. Thanks again!
Hi Kim N, DejaWiz, flyingpig, and all who've kindly helped me here —
So excited to have received the GORGEOUS new ring for my wife! We are both thrilled (though I think I may be a bit more excited having spent so much time on this).
Attached is a photo. I've learned it's quite difficult to photograph diamonds. The photo doesn't do a great job showcasing the sparkle. It's quite beautiful.
A huge thank you for helping me choose this diamond! I so appreciate your time and sharing your knowledge.
I'll also mention for anyone reviewing this thread — James Allen was awesome to work with. Highly recommended!
Hi All, a bit of a "what if" question for you if you have the time and interest in responding.
My wife received (and loves) her beautiful ring — we're so grateful to have such a beautiful gem.
As I'm guessing happens with many new diamond enthusiasts, I find myself frequently looking at different diamonds within the budget, with different parameters, and thinking what if we had gone with this ... (e.g., different clarity grade and higher carat, etc.) ...
I'm not planning to exchange the ring — it's gorgeous, it's proven (we know we're happy with all Cs), and there is always the opportunity to upgrade in the future. However, had we been making the purchase decision today, I'm curious what you would recommend between these two stones.
Current stone (proven and gorgeous) — 1.76 G VS1: https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-di...olor-vs1-clarity-true-hearts-cut-sku-15910155
A beautiful different stone - 2.11 H VS2: https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-di...olor-vs2-clarity-true-hearts-cut-sku-15663483 — cost is about $1K more than the first.
