Would you heat this 7.56ct Natural Montana Sapphire?

I'm looking forward to your pictures, and congratulations on the result! I, too, strongly prefer unheated material, and will forgive a little silk or teal component in an unheated sapphire, but your original stone just wasn't very attractive. I think you made the right call.

Did the heating leave a film? Did you have the stone repolished?

The post-heated gem is absolutely breath-talking as well, I should have added this. :)

Thank you Marion! I am glad you like it.

Hi Corundum_conundrum, yes the heating process did leave a film or fire scale. It had to be re-polished. If I had to recut this one again, I would love to have seen this gem as a traditional brilliant cut on the pavilion facets of the gem. It works quite well with smaller sapphires. I will save that for the next time I come across 18.5 ct rough Montana Sapphire!

Please take a hand shot of the sapphire when you can. :)

Hi Seaglow, here is a pic on the hand. This picture was taken under fluorescent lighting. It seems to capture the color best. Enjoy!
