My fiancé proposed in Venezuela on New Years Eve! We were in Venezuela visiting his family for 2 weeks and I honestly was so surprised by his proposal. It was amazing!!!! I''m sorry I didn''t post sooner, but we''ve been busy celebrating since we got back!
We celebrated New Years with his family at his parents'' house in Coro, Venezuela. First we had a really nice dinner around 9pm (similar to our Thanksgiving dinner) and then we brought the New Year in with wine, toasting, and kissing! We were all having a good time and around 1:00 am I thought we were getting ready to go to sleep. It''s a little confusing to me because he has a big family and they don''t speak English and I don''t speak Spanish very well (yet). Then my boyfriend sat down to play his guitar (which is not unusual at all) and I thought he was going to sing in Spanish, but he started singing in English. He sang the most beautiful song and I started crying because the song was really romantic and heartfelt, but I still didn´t even think for a second that he was going to propose. I knew that his father and niece were there, but I didn´t know that anyone else was there and I was just sitting there listening to him sing and at the end of the song I thought he was going to come over and hug me, but he didn’t . He stepped behind me and then he was back in a split second on his knee with the ring!!!! Then I started really crying! It could not have been more perfect. We were both crying and then he pulled me up to him and started hugging and kissing me and when I turned around his brothers and parents were there with glasses of wine to celebrate. His brother has a video tape of the whole thing! We are so happy!!!!
I did not think that he was going to propose on this trip, but it''s very special that he did because we got to share this meaningful event with his family. My fiancé has lived in the U.S. for 10 years, but his entire family still lives in Venezuela and he visits them only once a year. This was my second trip with him and I loved that he wanted to include his family.
The ring is BEAUTIFUL!!!!!! It is from WhiteFlash and I am awestruck by it! I''ll post a few pictures and then tomorrow after work I''ll start a SMTR thread.
I didn''t post a lot in the LIW forum, but honestly you ladies helped me stay calm and sane during my waiting period. I read all of your stories and really appreciated knowing that other people were going through similar situations while they waited to get engaged. Waiting isn''t always easy, but reading your posts helped me not drive my boyfriend crazy. I came on here and got my fix and then I barely ever brought it up to him. I honestly thought my boyfriend was going to propose about 6 months before he did and the waiting was hard at times. But, it was so worth it!!!!! The emotions I felt when he proposed were incredible!!!!!!
Taking good pictures of the ring is harder than I thought and then when I resize them they really look bad
