Year in review

Such lovely cohesive pieces that just are a wonderful match to your ering. I still love Paloma Picasso even after all these years. What are you thinking about for 2022?

I plan to continue focusing on rose gold pieces, a pendant and earrings. I'm considering the Van Cleef grey mother of pearl Vintage Alhambra pendant, but perhaps I should get something more neutral to match a variety of earrings that I may purchase in the future. I know I would like a 10-motif VA rose gold necklace one day, but likely not this coming year.

Wonderful thread to reflect before the new year! :kiss2:

This year was the year I fell down the VCA slope...

Got the vintage grey MOP RG pendant in March, followed by vintage YG bracelet in May then vintage alternating Carnelian/RG bracelet in Sept.. and the Cartier JUC ring in Jul

No wonder hubs was starting to point out any clover-looking thing he sees in architectures/everyday objects to me!

Oooooh, so pretty! Love the clovers and your e-rings is beautiful. I just posted about considering the grey VA pendant. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to try it on and live far from any boutique. How are you enjoying it so far? Any chance you have photos wearing the pendant? Looks like we have similar coloring.

What a great thread, @LLJsmom! Love seeing others' pieces from the year.

This year I did a small overhaul of my small collection. I sold several white metal pieces and bought rose gold pieces (Cartier two-tone watch, Tiffany infinity bangle, long Paloma Picasso pendant).

I'm already thinking about 2022...

I love the necklace! Didn’t realize you bought it. Any pics of you wearing it? I haven’t seen this piece before - it looks great

Thanks! Not the best picture, but here I am wearing the necklace at Tiffany while trying on another Tiffany necklace. :) I've also worn it doubled up, though I prefer it long. I love the movement.

I’m not sure I’ve got sufficient mental or intestinal fortitude to participate in this thread as I went a bit batty this year and blew through half of next year’s bling budget too… But I’m greatly enjoying seeing everyone else’s years in review!

For me, 2021 was the year that I
1. Shelved the engagement stone upgrade project indefinitely (it’ll be such a PITA project - I’m thinking I’ll wait til my 40th!), and
2. Put the lid on the pearls! No more pearls!! I’m genuinely satisfied with what I’ve got - my collection feels whole and complete. So I’m moving onto making my friends buy pearls

Thank you! Loving your Tiffany pieces and engagement ring too, they look amazing!!

The pendant usually looks pretty subtle as it’s usually showing dark grey, especially with dark turtleneck tops! As I’m currently overseas and won’t be returning anytime soon, can’t show close ups of the pendant against my skin but hopefully these pictures would help!

Thank you - looks lovely on you! I love the iridescence of the first photo, but the dark gray is darker than I'm looking for. Hmmm. Perhaps this is one that I simply have to try on in person first, even if it means waiting a while.

Thank you! Think so too - it could vary quite a bit in colours as the base colour could be a darker or lighter grey haha, have a wonderful time shopping for the right piece! (:

Does your olive leaf band get caught on things?

Oh hello friend… I’d like some massive white Pearl studs that don’t cost an arm and a leg… perhaps I’ll make a post in the Pearl forum and tag you for help! Haha

Yes, that is the Victoria Circle Vine pendant (small size). It is even more beautiful in person and a possible contender for me, but at $5500 is more than I was planning to pay for a pendant next year.

The olive leaf ring very rarely gets caught on things. It helps that I always wear it next to my bezel ring.

Will definitely love to see yours! :twisted2:

It seems I was into vintage and opalescence this year. I don't have a pic of them all together but here are my vintage rose cut diamond and opal pendant, vintage old mine and cushion cut horseshoe brooch, vintage star sapphire ring, vintage opal octopus brooch, Omega Seamaster watch and Apatite, Aqua and Tourmaline butterfly brooch:

Love all these unique pieces, especially the Seamster!

Im deffinatly in the small fry dept but i feel happy with the outcome so i'll slot this in into page two :lol-2:

no pictures because my phone is at the phone hospital in ICU till the life saving new part can be ordered on the 5th:doh::(2

but i got some really lovely gifts from fellow PSers
thank you, your generosity and geuine kindness will be much treasured forever

i did not get anywhere near my to do list but im happy with how my very slow moving daisy pearl necklace(s) is/are going, ive been patient and waited for the sales and i can see these both coming to fruition early in the new year (after the bill for the phone is paid)

i also made my memorial stack for Tibby (my avitar pic ) - its just the budget version, silver and amethyst, till i can make the ring that really honours his memory, but most importantly i actually finished something and i also got everything on sale or freight free so valuable lessons learned and put into practice about patience

and i got a nice silver garnet bangle down the mall i brought on a whim on the way to my step daughter's funeral that i call my Melanie memory braclete

managed to buy an unused silver Karen Walker pin ive wanted from before it was deleted that i won in an online thankfully for less than the price it was when it was new

and i finished the year with another auction find of a JJ Jonette pewter cat brooch ......which might technically be fashion jewlery ;)2 (not sure about pewter's status around here)

My year consisted of 6 things (actually, it’s really more if you count the things I bought to tear apart to make some of these items but I’m just not going there lol in my defense I also sold a bunch of items I wasn’t wearing or were pre-PS). 3 were planned/on my radar, the other 3 fell into my lap/had to have. All I can say is, my list of must haves has dramatically dwindled.

Great year for you!

I’ve been a terrible PSer this year and haven’t made any threads! The pendant on the right is a beautiful 1.36 OEC with the prettiest petals that I saved from ebay….it was living in this hideous setting and the owner had no clue it was an old cut! She’s probably H/I in color, definitely no lower than a J I would say. 5BAF8C14-F149-4A45-903B-024C75757564.jpeg

I put her into a pretty basket setting inspired by an antique Lang pendant I found and I got creative with the prongs so I could thread different chains through. I don’t know if this will be her final home but I have so many rings and wanted to at least enjoy her somehow.

It’s beautiful, the faceting is the first thing I saw too  And huge!! And the basket works perfectly - it really would be a pity to have it languish in a box  Thanks for sharing the story and some extra photos!

Thank you!! Of course I found her right AFTER I found and bought the smaller one to her left but who could say no???? And of course I had to keep both:lol-2:
