DS,
Shall I wait for 6 weeks then?

Kaleigh,
I'm leaning towards the martinis, but mine won't have the bling of yours.

Hope the stones are eye-clean!

No! I think you have already reserved a great pair! I don't think you'll do much better under a carat each.

But certainly ask if they are eyeclean. And you can always upgrade them later if another pair comes along!

Oh yes, I''m already planning an upgrade (shh).

I''m waiting for WF to determine that the stones are eye-clean, then they will be set in the 3-prong martini (white gold, unless someone can give me a compelling argument for platinum), and in my paws!

I have both white gold and platinum. I personally prefer platinum cos the white gold tends to go yellow on me after a while and that gives the stone a slight tinge (reflection around the facets, I believe). However, I've been told it's because of the lower quality white gold I'd been given, which I wasn't aware of. Maybe it's a local thing and you can get better white gold in the US. Perhaps others can chime in here (?).

All I can say is that the white gold prongs on my original e-ring never needed replating in 30 years, so I think ear stud settings would be pretty safe in white gold. I didn''t even know that white gold needed to be replated until I came on PS! But it wouldn''t be a big deal to spend $30 having them rhodium plated every 10 or 20 years if necessary. I like platinum but it is just really overpriced at the moment. Not much of the setting shows on ear studs anyway.

LienTN,
I just "called" for you on Hangout.

Sorry, only just saw it. Have replied.

Harriet- just found this thread- it''s threads like these that make me have to stay away from P-scope!

your studs are going to be fab! I am jealous! I had to put my stud project on hold while we move!

Thanks for shopping for me Harriet. Put them on hold for me for about 9 months.

Also, 30 lashes with a wet noodle for even thinking about upgrading them!!!!!

OOOH Harriet!! Just one of your studs will be bigger than my new ring!!! You lucky lucky lady!!!!!

Serioualy ladies, will the inclusions weaken the stones? I''m especially concrned about the first one.

I don''t know enough to tell you for sure but I would hope they wouldn''t. Earrings don''t take that much of a battering when worn - its not like a ring for example.

I will leave it to the experts to advise you further

I'm not an expert, but I don't think the stones will be weakened at all. Both of them sure are yummy though!

*M*

They are both ACA''s nothing to worry about with them. They will make fabulous studs!!

They are a great match, Harriet! They even match my picky standards for a matched pair, so you''re doing well!

Harriet, I have a pair of studs (that I got ripped off on years ago) that make your pair look like VS1, and they''re fine.

So are yours.

Thanks everyone. I have a web appointment with Brian the Cutter tomorrow, and he''ll show me the stones and answer my questions.

Yay! let us know what you decide.

I''m not sure, but it might be a public webinar. If so, you can join in the fun.

Some of us viewed the stones online earlier. I've placed the order, and they'll be here next week!
