A flawless 108-carat diamond worth $322,000 was embedded in the nose of his car as part of a publicity campaign to promote the Israeli gem firm of Steinmetz.

Steinmetz is one of the sightholders and also owns Diamond.com.

Oh Wow! With all the possible scenarios of auto racing mishaps..promo or not, this seems so foolish to even take a chance with something of this beauty and value! Or is this just my Mom (you should know better)sense taking over?

Conspiracy theory: there was no diamond in the car, the car supposed to be crashed, buzz is all over the world, promotional mission accomplished.

Anyway: 108cts, IF... isn't the estimate price a tad low

ahhhhhhhhhhhh,,,,,,the ol'hook line and sinker ploy! crap!....worked on me....

How can an 108-ct diamond be the size of a shirt button?

"Jaguar has offered a new X-series car worth $45,000 to anyone who returns the diamond, which is about the size of a shirt button."

Definately a case where the setting is more expensive than the main stone!

so the diamond is supposedly worth $322k and they want you to return it for a $45k car? Uhh..NO? Plus I'd rather keep the diamond.

This is one of the most ridiculous things I've heard of in a long time! What were they thinking in the first place? Let's ruin a 108 ct diamond by adhering it to a car! I'm sorry, but I don't buy it....

Something is wrong with the numbers!! My guess is that the stone is 10.8ct., not 108ct!

Anyway, it was a pretty stupid idea - I wonder which stupid insurance Co. will have to pay up for this? - Perhaps it wasn't insured at all!...then it was a REALLY stupid idea!!
