My original (in avatar), when we got engaged/married, was a 2 ct solitaire on a WG channel set band with princess cuts and a matching channel set wedding band. 18 years and 4 kids later, along with 40lbs of weight gain and 100lbs of weight loss... my poor original had been beaten up, resized so many times... it needed to go down another half a size this year and they told me the channels couldn’t handle any more. I was also sick of the high profile of my solitaire, and the “two rings” thing, always trying to keep them aligned, etc. My husband told me “it’s been 18 years! Pick out something new—anything you want.”
I’d been dreaming of an anniversary 3-stone using my original diamond as the center. I wanted something very simple and classic, no trellis work, clean straight lines, four prongs to square out the stones a bit, and with side stones that would be small enough to let my original stone take center stage. Everyone tried to talk me into a 75% ratio but I knew 0.50 on each side (62ish%) was gonna be the ticket, and once I saw it set... wow. It’s perfect
18k white gold setting, size 4
Center stone: 2.02 G VS2
Side stones: 0.52/0.53 G VS2
Claw prongs, outside prongs of the side stones set closer to the band to help it look a little more tapered
Setting and side diamonds/reset by Joe Escobar Diamonds in CA (they were absolutely lovely, and I’m a customer for life).
I can’t stop looking at it!

oh.my.GOODNESS. I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE your side stone to center stone ratio. I agree, the .52/3 are perfect. I like this better than larger side stones, it really makes the whole thing pop. Feel free to share more pictures with us!!
