18k yellow gold, but more copper shade undertone

I’m looking for an 18k yellow gold ring, but with more brown/gold shade than a bright yellow shade. Is there a reason the shades of 18k yellow gold differ between companies? They should all have the appropriate amount of gold in the rings right?

They do, but gold can have proprietary mixes for the other alloys to achieve a desired shade.

There are many thousands of different 18k alloys on the market each a different color.
What your looking for is a dark 18k alloy which is more common outside the US.
