So happy this baby blue is finally back from the jewelers! I am in love with the happy, calming, pure blue colour! Safe to say it it is my favourite faceted sapphire here! It was resized down and the black coating was removed. There is a 2mm deep nick at the top beside the small inclusion - my jeweler looked at it under a microscope and advised not to get it removed and repolished because it would lower the carat weight significantly. As long as I am careful with it I think it will be fine! I love the hefty weight of the setting too. So pretty!!!!

Gorgeous! Was the nick there when you got the stone or did it happen from wearing it? I think I have this saved in my sapphire folder.

I'm so happy my little self adopted grail bubby blue is happy and on your finger! I love that sapphire more than anything. You are lucky. It's really special:love:

Finally. I’ve been waiting to see pictures of this ring again since the summer! :D

That is so sweet! I will be at a a Christmas party tonight and don't think I will get bored because I can steal off and look at it on different lighting!

It came to me with a nick and I got it second hand. It is only really noticeable at cert angles when the light reflects off it.

Yummy velvety blue goodness!! Looks striking on your hand. Wear it in good health and happiness, my friend!!

Love your cab. What's the origin or that sapphire if you don't mind me asking? :kiss2:

Your new ring is oh so dreamy, I’m so happy it stayed in the PS family

I’d like to add a couple thoughts, if I may.

I know the original purchaser. She bought this stone directly from Sri Lanka, sight-unseen, in the middle of covid.

The thing about buying direct from that part of the world is that… There are cultural differences that make enabling detail-oriented-ness pretty much impossible in practice. Omission of fine print is the norm. And unless you’re a very valued customer *and* your vendor is used to dealing with Western buyers, you’re not going to be able to get anything verified by your definitions pre-purchase. Colour, clarity, structural sturdiness - anything that can’t be quantified through one photo is something that’s up for interpretation, and anything that’s up for interpretation will be interpreted (and sold) with the most favourable perspective possible.

Buying from US-based retailers avoids those issues of course. You can turn in a list of requirements and, as long as you choose a vendor you trust, have confidence that your requirements will be met. You’ll pay handsomely for this confidence though!!

Buying a pre-owned piece from an end consumer, even a US-based end consumer, even a PS consumer, really is a very different story. Consumers buy what they like, and everything they see and say is filtered through their personal #Appreciate and #DGAF lenses. A lot of the IG flippers with no actual trade experience have this issue too, but with them it’s actually a problem because they purport to be professionals… Anyway. In this case the original purchaser prioritized colour first and foremost and clarity took a back seat. Come time to resell - she highlighted the inclusions that she noticed but apparently there was one that she missed. I’m confident it came to her that way - that the original vendor didn’t say a single thing about it. But I think in general any expectation that a private non-professional consumer will be able to wholly shelve her personal #lenses and produce a fully-descriptive characterization of a piece that caters to all potential buyer priorities just isn’t realistic… There’s just always risk there.

Nick and all, I can also say that no retailer would ever part with that stone - with that colour and glow - for her private sale price. (Disclaimer: I was lobbying for her to not sell it ) So I still think you did amazingly well on an unbeatably velvety stone. And it looks legit phenomenal with your complexion :cool2: I hope you love it and enjoy it in good health!!

Nah, it’s impossible to get bored with a beautiful sapphire on your hand! I do the same. Just stare at the ring and enjoy the blue.

It is Madagascan! I found that out by looking at the original vendor's listing on IG and he confirmed it. Nafeez is a really sweet seller in Sri Lanka under the handle Gem Ocean.

I do love it in all of it's velvety glory @yssie ! Thank you for the compliment! The cool white platinum is really growing on me.

Aww thanks Elle! I love this stone even more than the 2.82 unheated sapphire I bought from Tan with the help of PSers here a decade ago! I had that one set as a 20k YG pendant by Sally.
