2 down, 1 to go - FCD Update

Hmm, they just got in a violet, a color that is very hard to find.
Purple, which leans towards red, is much more common than violet, which leans towards blue.

Violet is so rare that Steve Hofer did not even include it as one of the primary hues in his landmark book on colored diamonds because he had never seen one at that point.
I think I read he has since seen one and if he wrote the book today violet would be included.

It does have a gray modifier but at least it is only grayish and not gray, and gray is mentioned first before violet.
There are four possible combinations of the two colors:

violetish gray
violet gray
gray violet
grayish violet

This diamond has the most violet of the four combinations, and it shows in the price per carat.

Dang, it sold in just a few days.
Like I said, high demand stones sell fast.
No, I'm not the buyer. ;(
You snooze, you lose.

Kenny, it would have looked tiny in a size 10.5 ring (my size).

Good thing I'm not a size queen . . . well, at least not when it comes to FCDs.

I vote for the orange

I voted for the violet. It fits in with your cool palette of colors.

People told me that I had no heart, so I traveled down the yellow brick road to see the wizard.
This new heart very sparkly, second only to my green round antique cut.
As usual Leibish & Co. has been wonderful. www.fancydiamonds.net

Inclusions are really really really hard to see in colored material.
You would not believe how small the two naturals are on the shoulders of the heart; GIA is very nit picky to even mention these.
I still haven't found the cloud or needles.
I have great eyes and a great loupe it took me forever to find the tiny naturals.

I wanted something in a warm strong color that would not be too much larger than her siblings.

Notice how terrible the green looks in this lighting.
FCDs of different colors and shapes are the ultimate challenge to photograph.

A lovely stone; such a queer shape.

Queer shape is okay.
We all can't be round or square. :twirl:

On a polished slice of a geode.

Not only can I live with this -
I'd like to.

Well, come on over.
We have an extra room . . . well, as long as you are not a psycho ax-murderer, or a drummer.

Very cool, you are very close to getting a rainbow!

Do you have any idea how hard it is to get a 12-pt emerald cut diamond to stay put! on its short side? :angryfire: :D

Being how hard of a time I have with my stones, I am guessing next to impossible.

Superb addition to your family! The colour compliments the others really well.

What's next on the agenda?

In my dreams . . . Pure violet, or Pure Red.
Frankly I'd love a vivid pure blue.

Realistically, maybe a green/yellow stone.
I love the ones that are that glowing color of car anti-freeze. :lickout: :lickout:
I also want a nice brown.

I love hearts AND I love the color. Congrats!

AWESOME

A very, very round heart! Really cute. It's a nice choice. I was hoping you'd go orange, and this is a pretty one. :appl:

Could you please photograph them a bit closer together, so I can update my computer wallpaper with the latest Kenny colored diamond grouping? :praise:

IF you're on FB you can get a higher res copy for wallpaper.

Congratulations on your latest addition. Very beautiful, and I like how the orange contrasts with the rest of the stones.

Kenny, I love that heart!!!
