Kenny every time i see you pics, i get excited.
Since i know how hard it is to take pics of FCD, to see what an amazing result you come up with, it's a real pleasure to see your pics.
You are a gifted photographer

Kenny:

Why don't you work out a deal with Leibish where you photograph some of their gems and in return you receive a significant discount on future purchases? You photos are some of the most beautiful I have seen and that one of mr. King Plumpheart sitting on that purple is one of the most amazingly artistic shots - beautiful colors, gorgeous articulation of every facet, and great contrast. Isn't it time for Liebish to commemorate some of their most beautiful stones with a photo shoot? :naughty:

Hi Kenny,

I'm so glad you're back. I love your collection. It can go into a museum entitled" diamonds in minature". What a beautiful collection this is. I know you enjoy it , thanks for letting us enjoy it as well.

Hmm, they just got in a violet, a color that is very hard to find.
Purple, which leans towards red, is much more common than violet, which leans towards blue.

Violet is so rare that Steve Hofer did not even include it as one of the primary hues in his landmark book on colored diamonds because he had never seen one at that point.
I think I read he has since seen one and if he wrote the book today violet would be included.

It does have a gray modifier but at least it is only grayish and not gray, and gray is mentioned first before violet.
There are four possible combinations of the two colors:

violetish gray
violet gray
gray violet
grayish violet

This diamond has the most violet of the four combinations, and it shows in the price per carat.

I haven't seen this thread before so it might seem a bit late to give a response on this now, but better late than never.
Violet diamonds are extremely rare, on that all agree. But for some reason they are not yet familiar enough and their color isn't appreciated enough by all.
Collectors of FCD defiantly do appreciate it, but it is a color that doesn't get the "publicity" other colors get(Pink for example), so people don't know how rare it really is.
The way I see it, A pure Violet should be located somewhere in the same high scale of rarity as Red diamonds.
Through my career I have seen only 2 pure Violets with no secondary hue.
They were both tiny, one was an oval shape, 0.13ct Fancy Intense Violet, and the other was also an Oval, 0.18ct Fancy Deep Violet(here is a pic we took of them together, it was about 2 years ago+-), They were sold with less than 5 min. people know pure Violets are nowhere to be found.

GIA are extremely strict when it comes to Violet, and will hardly give a stone Pure violet, it will almost always come with Grayish as secondary hue.

Also those that are not Pure Violet, can be very rare(depends on the color of the stone nad the face up, the 0.13ct fancy Deep Greyish Violet Kenny posted was a very fine one. The color was very stong and the greysh wasn't visible at all).
The great beauty of Violet is the shade, it appears like a combination of Purple and Blue, the purer the color gets, the more Purple it gets.
In most cases the color of Fancy Deep/Fancy Dark will be quite dark, but when taken out from their box and allowing the light to go through, the site is one of a kind Purple face up.
Violets can appear in Fancy, Fancy Intense, Fancy Deep and Fancy Dark intensities (I have never came across lighter intensities, it may exist, I have never seen them).
The color will be as Kenny mentioned, either as Violet as main color, with Grey or Grayish (tint of Grayish) , or the other way around, Grey as main color and Violet or Violetish as secondary hue.
Violet can appear also with Blue, Violetish Blue or Blueish Violet
Since they are so rare, their sizes are usually very small(0.10ct-0.30ct). The bigger ones (2ct+) will be from the Violet Grey family(Grey as main color), and if it will be the other wa around. It will be very expensive.
