I had a chance to tour the Library of Congress earlier this week -- a beautiful, ornate building graced with exquisitely carved marble, mosaics, and murals. The docent was sharing so much information that I found my mind turning elswhere from time to time--but it snapped back to attention the docent pointed to some gold detailing and sait that they were made of 24.5 karat gold.
24 karat gold???
I thought 24k represents 100 percent gold. I''m not sure what that would make 24.5 k gold...
Can anyone enlighten me?
Thanks!
